Update;

There were four information units used over the years, Minicheck, autocheck, minicheck/board computer and autocheck/board computer.

The stinker only came with minicheck from the factory, but I miss the BC that's in the S2 (which of course has full autocheck/BC), plus the clocks look a tad empty without it.
So I bought a minicheck/BC unit and "tried" to fit it. I say tried, but the TDi's having non of it. It's got no fuel consumption wire from the ECU, so that's that.
Up until that point, all was going well.

I had an older trip stalk with the hazard stalk next to it, just a case of removing the trip stalk and swapping into by housing. Got the small loom needed for it too. Goes from the back of the stalk round to the back of the clock were it plugs into the BC with one yellow wire going to a fuel consumption feed.





you remove/solder jumper wires so as to configure the BC for whatever model/engine size it's going into.



BC opened up, I need tyo remove both those jumper wires;



Done;



Out to the car, minicheck on it's own;



Clocks removed ready to pull old minicheck unit;



Minicheck unit removed;



New minicheck/BC unit fitted;



Fuel pot clipped on;

Jase, whats the black object I've outlined in red? It looks to flip back on two hinges if you undo the two screws on the right.
Is this unique to a modules with MC and BC only?

I see the pic now. Yes, it's the minicheck warning buzzer.
The "minicheck on it own" unit has it behind the speaker grille thing, but on the minicheck/BC unit the BC display is there, so it sits further back.

Piccy fixed. A buzzer eh? Interesting. Does this replace the function for the buzzer relay found in slot #12 in the aux carrier?

The one that buzzes when you've left you lights and radio on.

Not possible for cruise unless I find a setup from a 1993 or before TDi.

Heated seats are brill aren't they. How anyone could have them on setting 6 is beyond me. They set your trousers on fire after five minutes

Mind you, if anything goes wrong with that tubing going into the airbox in the above picture, I'll be worrying about more than just my trousers catching fire

Yeah, I'm not too bothered to be honest. The project is about finished. Just a few things to mess around with inside at some point.
