this is the results from a customers rs4 on the same day we ran my s2 - the rs4 is a lot more poised and easier to drive - the s2 is a handful.

That power curve looks very refined for the output. The fun of the S2 is that you have to work hard to achieve good speed round a track, the B5 rides and handles a lot better and is a lot more user friendly.Cheers'en, AndyC

Great work Doug.
When I met you at MRC last september I thought it would take longer to get the S2 ready as it seemed you had quite a lot of work. I am glad to see that the car is finished and that you are getting more power than you thought. Let's hope the MAF will not bump over those 2,75bar pressure.
.
I would be happy with a little more than half the horse power you are making. Congratulations!!
By the way, I still haven't tried the remaping I got from you, I hope to do it soon once I change the clutch and finish the brake upgrading. I also still haven't contacted Mihnea, but I'll do it once the RS2 setup is bolt on the car.
Cheers from Barcelona.

ISV popped and custom clutch slipping - that will be the last ever Spec clutch i touch. The clutch was fine for 3 weeks which included mapping on the road , 10+ dyno pulls, and general driving with the occasional pull - it has not been thrashed or launched.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

ow come you're still using an ISV? Is it really necessary? I suppose it saves mapping the idle so much.
Bad luck on the clutch, SPEC haven't got the best press recently on here. I've seen a few threads with tales of woe. Who else is there? Clutchnet?Cheers'en, AndyC

Im using a standard ABY pressure plate but with a performance helix drive plate.

I think it cost me about ÂŁ170 from deemon tweeks, and i have done a lot of aggresive launches with all wheels spinning, the quicker i can drop the clutch the better
Car only weighs 1140kg tho.The ONLY S2 Golf!

You need the isv.
I have used the helix but it won't hold the torque i have. I do rate helix - they know there stuff.
The clutchnet ones slip in cars with similar torque.
We'll see how long the sachs clutch i have got will last.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

Not if you hold it open or use a bleed valve to control idle. Carb cars don't have ISVs and most early injection cars K-Jet etc. don't either. The ISV is there for warmup and to hold the idle steady when you put load on the engine at idle, i.e. put the lights on or he heater or A/C, it's a nice to have, it's not essential. If you can be botherted to map at idle then you can dispense with it although you then get problems with warmup and load compensation... unless you go drive by wire of course.
If it's a weak point then it might be worth looking into other options, I suppose that was my point... if you can't then I guess it'll just have to work or get replaced as and when.Cheers'en, AndyC

I don't think it is a weak point - it is original and 13 years old is not bad going!
Drive by wire cars don't have an isv because the idle stabilistion is done by opening the throttle automatically.S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

surely thats not possible as the TB closes completely when your idling.
