you didnt superglue the rods together, did you?Originally posted by Mark HalliganI just hope it all stays together OK, as I have a lot of bolts left over
looks good, great job on the inlet manifold. seems to me you should worry about your filter soaking in rain being right behind the grille. or is that your 'water injection'?

Thanks for the good luck wishes fellas
Yep I have thought about the rain getting at the filter through the grill, I thought about putting a plate (perpsex or something) in front of it fixed behind the grill to deflect the worst of it, if it does become a problem.

That should deal with the problem, or you could end up with a rusty MAF wire overnight.
Whats that aux. belt tensioner off then? VR6 golf?? Also have you just painted the PAS pulley or it is some trick, alloy one.sigpic

the tensioner is off of an AAN, so is the pulley, the belt is off of a 2.5 diesel A4.

It Lives !!!
Steve H 'popped' around today (from Bristol) and gave me a hand to get the front pulley bolt torqued up, had some problems initially but got it done in the end after having to make up a locking tool. We had more problems with a reluctant/sticking starter motor but eventually we got her fired up. Bit tappety at first but onced warmed up that went away and now it sounds swweeeeett
. Early days I know and I have yet to drive it, but at least it started and sounds OK. After running it up to running temp I dropped the oil and and changed the filter to get rid of the colloidal graphite used in the assembly and anything else that may have been in there (hopefully nothing) a bit extreme maybe??
But I just want to be sure that all is well with it.
Many thanks to Steve and Robin (Twoqu)

Nice one Mark. Was a good idea to drop the oil to get rid of that graphite stuff. Now what have you got left to do then?? Rebuild the front end and drive it? After its MOTsigpic
