Thanks fellas, I just hope I am putting it all together properly, your right Dean I don't want to see them rods again for a long while once the sump is back on.
I have used new OEM mains bolts, I tried to find some ARP replacemants but couldn't and they didn't return my e-mail when I enquired about them
.
@Paul, I bought one of those 'modified' oil return valves, but it looks nothing like the stock one, and I wouldn't know which way to install it, so I stuck with the standard one. The gaps on the rings were done by the machine shop to the specs given by JE and they installed the rings to the pistons, I didn't fancy doing that. It was bad enough installing the pistons into the block. I only did one per day......that was enough stress

Mark,
Everyone has so far said that the engine is looking mighty, mighty, mighty fine... And I'm gonna second all of it
However, what they have all forgotten to add is that... YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY INSANE MATE
(I'm just jealous cuz the only time my car leaves my drive way is when its on its way to the mechanics to get it going again!)
But good on ya for putting in all this effort. It's gonna be an even bigger neast once its all done.
I'm defo gonna have to pop round to see the car soon mate (seeing as Im only round the corner)

I don't want to say it here but basically don't hold your breath too much, there's nothing impressive to be had... shoot me an email with your number and I'll call you a bit later tonight. My cell phone is in France now so I have no one's numbers.

Lets run a book on it - Mihnea can't bet as he's obviously learnt a trick or two about that super turbo when he was stateside. Heheh.
I'll start the betting at 450bhp and a hefty 600Nm of torque...

Here is a picture of the oil return valve for "modified engines". It looks too different from standard so I didn't use it.
It all looks really cool - Maybe I am too naive to stress about putting the pistons in the block - There is a knack to getting the compressor on true and once you do that, and use plaenty of oil, they slide in sweet.
Mark - Fancy a group buy on the GT35R ??
I forgot to ask - what silver paint did you use on your inlet manifold you had at the weekend - it looks like a factory finish/colour.Attached FilesS2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment

Looks like I am 'limited' to around that figure, I'd love to get in on a group buy for a GT35R but I am so skint now, I will have to wait a while, and after all this lot is done I need/have to get on with some decorating indoors
.
Doug, thats the same valve I got, fecked if I can think of how to install it though
.
Mark.
P.S. I'll dig out the paint colour tomorrow for you.Mark - ModdedComment

Same here for that valve. god knows? I am thinking somewhere in the region of 450bhp but with more torque, 700NM would be nice

Here's a couple of pictures of the torque plate used for the boring/honing, an expensive bit of kit! If anyone is doing a rebuild in the future and wants to have the block bored/honed using one, contact Aelred through Steve H or me and drop your block off with him and he'll get it fully prepared for you.
Mark.
P.S. sorry if that sounds like a blatant ad, but he does know his stuff.Attached FilesMark - ModdedComment
