The inside of the arch is primed, sealed, painted and undersealed, so I gave the car a quick wash outside.

That is not polished or anything.

And started doing some oily bits again

Thinking of just doing turbo, injectors, porkkis 320 chips and then getting it back on the road for a bit.

Downpipe Spanner, it was already bent, just not enough, felt bad doing it to a good spanner though

Got the airbox etc off. lambda off (threads stripped though?), wastegate off, downpipe unbolted, oil and water feed unbolted.

Forgot to unbolt the Y pipe from the downpipe and its hitting the ground

I am not sure of doing the rs2 manifold, seems daft not to when I am there, but I can see it being a can of worms if the studs snap, head off, and then where to stop.

Same with the AAN intake, where does it stop

I do have a MLS headgasket, so possibly it would the best to just bite the bullet, do the headgasket, timing belt, billet cog, rs2 manifold? Still not future proof though as its still dizzy and stock rods.

Or just run it till it blows and start building an ABY?

just do it, if it snaps off then weld a nut on and wind it out that way.

Just do it. Maybe heat them up before trying them though. My inlet bolts came out no bother recently.

Paint is looking good. Can't wait to see it back on the road.

Bodywork looks great Andy, well done mate

If you go to remove the manifold, heat the studs right up to cherry and they almost always come out in one piece.

This is looking really good mate. I'm just trying to paint my wheels and keep thinking of you doing this epic work. I hang my head in shame.

Yeah I'll pick something up in 14 years or so when they've both gone to Uni. I should be suitably old and fat enough by then for fit young ladies to laugh at me trying to look cool in an S2

Any tips for the turbo oil drain bolts? They appear to have been 5mm allen bolts, now turned into balls of rust. And the drain hose blocks direct access for hitting in a torx bit.

Block flange bolts are slightly better, but not great.

Abuse the ones on the block out, and take the turbo apart in the vice to retrieve the hose?

                        Mine were like this

I cleaned the allen hole best I could, I stuck an allen wrench in as far as it would go, and then used a vice grips to squish the allen onto the wrench

I then turned them both at the same time.

Old turbo is off, new turbo has the hotside fitted and mocked it up before removal.

                          Turbo clocked

Coldside clocked so it clears the oil line (Internal BPV is the big bulge) Also got a non v band coldside coming to try.

                          And manifold off

Victory to the oxy, works like magic!

Had a look at the AAN intake, I have read the 3B fuel rail does not fit, is it that because of the feed going over the manifold, and the AAN is higher?

Tried giving it a little clean as well

I was supposed to be getting the AAN fuel rail of another member but it never materialised, you cold have had that too

                              Aye, that's the one.

Don't worry about the fuel rail. I want to get the 3B one to fit, as I want to use the 3B fpr, as that is what Porkkis has a chipset for, so I can get the car running and iron out any problems, then think about live mapping later.

If its just the fuel line over the manifold I should be able to heat and bend? Or just make a new one from the banjo?
