I used the s4 battery cable and ran it inside the car. Because I didn't use the aby coupe under seat battery tray, I had to extend the battery cable so it would reach the rear hatch area. I used a car audio "distribution block and mounted it undwr the seat. I ran one wire (the starter wire) down the right side and out where the a/c connection is, the second wire I ran down the left side to the fuse box. It worked well for me.

I have this battery box for my project. The battery cable is plenty long enough to reach any point in your engine compartment. It's all 2 gauge, and nice wire. It comes with virtually everything you'd need as far as connectors etc, but there is one thing I am still looking for that would make mounting much easier, and that is a 'remote' battery post. - I believe the UrS4 had one of these, and the idea is to make a junction somewhere in the vicinity of the passenger side shock tower, to split the starter / fuse box connections off.i was thinking of using something like this:

Otherwise adapting down to the smaller wires from 2g may be tough. -Also provides a method to disconnect the battery under the hood.Comment

I'm not sure I understand what you mean with regard to the "...just in case". - Having less of the thinner wire would be better. If you run 8 gauge wire (for example) from the rear seat to the starter, there is a higher chance of the wire overheating and fire than if you used the 2 gauge, and split the 8g off under the hood. I don't know if it's outside the limits of the wire, but if you buy a wiring kit it seems you might as well use it(?).
Just my thoughts.
- Also that starter wire may be 4 gauge now that I think about it... so you probably have to buy a length of something and fish it through none the less.Comment

Nice, very nice...oh to be young & ambitious!
At my age I no longer have the patience or the time to do such a great project. Being married & having a family takes allot of my free time up. Right now just getting a set of driving lites into my wife's Volvo 850 sedan is taxing the crap out of me!
