John when i have my S2 back do you fancy meeting up for a comparison? Would like to see the difference from what you did have to what u have now -
Did a few bits to the car today.
Removed Recaro Speed and fitted the heated leather for "winter mode"
Fitted a spare seat heater switch to cure the constant clicking from the relay.
Refitted the engine bay blanket to keep the noise down a bit.
Moved the Whiteline RARB to stiffest setting and managed to provoke a little oversteer on the wet and leafy local lanes
Removed and cleaned the pins of the Gauge Cluster voltage regulator to try and stop the gauges playing up, seems to have worked!

Super Leggera's can be found for good money....even if the wife doesnt think so
I bagged an ex display set and shod them in those Kumho V70a's for less than £280
Bargain in any language (except a woman's
)

Have had a search going for OZ ultra legs for a year now but no go.. They're expensive too, I'll have another look at the TDs.
Super aware of the wheel weight thing, with the bikes its really obvious, have lusted after a set of BST Carbon wheels for a few years but at 2 grand they're a bit spendy
My next move on the chassis is to set the RARB up to the stiff setting as I moved it to full soft a while back to try and compensate for when the rear shocks were set too hard, I'd forgotten that
I'd love to be able to fiddle with the damping but its just not an option with the Konis. Oh for a set of top adjustables!Leave a comment:

Or if you've already done the usual suspension upgrades somewhere like Centre Gravity will help to dial out handling problems with geometry adjustments. Chris Franklin is a very helpful guy and knows his 5hlt inside out.Leave a comment:

Yeah, cheers John, shame it was a tad poorly but the corner aggression sure made up for it
S2driver got some slicks for a song IIRC, also quattrodan had slicks at ADI, might be worth checking there.
I'd be looking at Team Dynamics Pro Race series wheels if I were you, they're light and strong and look nice too, PR3s are my faves at the mo. BBS also do some quite light wheels, I think the RK is quite a light one, Phillip Walker sells them IIRC.
Check out the wheel weights thread as lighter wheels = better performance (my OZs save 16kg over the Dezents and that's with track rubber, as it's rotating mass you can pretty much double that number and as it's unsprung mass it improves handling too
)
From the understeer you were experiencing, I'd suggest that a more aggressive chassis setup might not go amiss either. Quite a few options here, I might be looking at a few more options too. The FARB sticky will tell you all you need to know about a monster rear setup.Leave a comment:

Well, Rusty, Acid and Wolfie got their pax laps at ADI, the car went well and now its upgrade time again
Waiting on a big box of goodies from Wagner
better manifolds, better breathing..
About 3 laps is the limit now with this much power on the road tyres so I'll be looking out for some wheels to put trackday tyres on.Leave a comment:

lol well you live and learn, good thing about this is its really responsive so great for most of my driving round the lanes, little bit of throttle, 0.5 bar at 2500, nice whooshing noise

I had the 0.63 first on the golf, was far too small for my setup, massive surge all the time, even in 2nd if you wanted too much boost low down. Changed for a 0.8 hotside and its loads betterLeave a comment:
