I think if I remember right, our S2 kit comprised, two drivers side passat arms, a drivers side passat blade and a Lupo/Polo passenger blade. Something like that.
Question, WhyTF all these different blade fixings on VAG cars. Are they mad??
Ok, I was sure if the arms were Polo or not. I've fitted two Polo blades now to mine as they can be sat right at the base of the windscreen - I'd had an overlap with the Passat drivers side and the Polo passenger side.
Halfrauds is just poo, there really is no other way of putting it.
I think it might be Polo arms that the VAG parts kit for the S2 used. I went to a local VW dealer with one of the blades to get replacements and it was a polo number that popped up. Took a looooong time of explaining that I didn't have a reg. plate for the car or what car they were from...
Halfrauds was even worse, I just walked out after about 5 minutes of banging my head against the wall.
I had to get new pads for my TT225 calipers, a quick google soon got me a plate to quote! Saved having to explain to the monkeys that they were on an S2
Installed last weekend. So flippin busy at work, tonight is the first chance I've had to write it up
Good job I've got a whole week off work next week. First lieu days I've taken since October last year.
The mirror I got was NOS from a seller who bought a job lot from a dealer, or something like that.
He's got a fair few of them. £99 delivered.
This is the second I've installed. Put one in the S2 back in 2006 (version without compass) That was from an S4/RS4. See old thread >>>> Here
This one is from an american allroad, so I'm led to believe. The part number does not come up on my recent version of the FA.
Auto dimming and has a compass display. Not bothered about the compass bit, I know where I'm going 99.9% of the time (to hell, or so Allie says)
Quick browse of the circuit diagrams in my haynes pointed me to a suitable switched circuit to tap into. Tapped into the rear of the interior fuse board "after" the fuse so it's covered.
Earth simply attached to an earth point on the relay board under the drivers shelf with a ring tag.
Notice all that weird grey wiring and strange relay? It's all to do with the tow bar wiring and will be removed along with said towbar when Audi/TPS get their lazy arses into gear and deliver me the lower rear bumper section I've had on order for a fortnight. It could have arrived faster on a friggin donkey
Wiring led up door post and along the front of the headliner tucked in.
I only need two wires of the six it has.
The white and the black (Note, pinout different to the one I wired into my S2). Others not needed unless you want the dimming function to switch off when you go into reverse or switch the interior light on.
The mirror came with the felt backed backing plate, I popped into the old thread I link above for wiring/pin part numbers and the front cover.
Old mirror twists off the base (which is bonded to the windscreen - DON'T NOT PULL IT OFF) by turning through 90° either clockwise or anticlockwise. It can be "very" tight.
Exactly the same as the S2.
New mirror goes back on the same.
I'll let the pictures do the talking.
(ignore the four yellow wires, as said only two needed. When you buy standard wiring like that it comes in standard yellow with a pin on either end, hence four wires. I was buzzing out which I needed)
[Oh and yes I need the door shuts cleaning ok, I have to plan everything I do on the car three weeks in advance at the minute, and they'll get done when I've got time. OK??? ]
The mirror was calibrating itself when I took this, hence the "C".
Also, managed to get hold of an A6 C4 cupholder from fleabay. USA flebay no less too. It's the version for vehicles fitted with a car phone, so is shorter and only has two slots instead of three like the normal A6 C4 one.
But no matter, the other is NLA so beggars can't be choosers and does what it's supposed to.
Oh, Erm, it also fits in the Coupe/80/90/avant tray too. Get hunting. It took me four weeks of daily searching.

Don't you just hate bodges?. Complete bloody hash of a setup.
Bumper cut, wiring a complete mess, steel bars wellied into bumper mount tubes and black silicone used to seal bolt holes.
All started off fairly well, but there was no way those steel box section tubes where coming out of the chassis. Not without ripping the bumper off.
Either side of the car has a tube where a bumper bracket slides into, the bumper is then mounted to the bracket. These clowns had hammered their steel box section into the tube.
I was irate at this point, so no pics as I didn't want to end up throwing the camera at it.
Similar system to my B4 80, the mounts on the bumper slide into the tubes in the chassis, here's a pic;
Now here is a pic of how my towbar looks;
Now imagine hammering those box sections into the chassis :evil: :?
So I sat back, had a smoke and rethink.
Ok, I'll pull the old lower trim off, remove the electrics and pull cabling through as far as I could and lop it off. I'd already got rid of the mess under the drivers shelf.
That left two towball mounts. Out came the trusty hacksaw and I cut em off. Ok, so I'm leaving a whopping big bar behind the bumper, only consolation is that if anyone goes into the back of me, they come off worse.
New trim bunged on and no more ugly work of the devil towbar thingy thing.

Opted to junk the cat, go from the downpipe back with slightly larger 60mm bore SS tubing (standard was 57mm), junk the middle box and have just a rear box with twin slash cut 3.5" SS tailpipes.
The cat was nigh on completely choked up with soot. Pete (exhaust blokey) used the cats flange to mate up to the new system rather than cutting the downpipe.
Who would of thought you could get a "proper" 5cyl 10v warble on a derv burner.
Sounds bloody great, with a right bark when you want it too.
Surprisingly quiet on the motorway and a hell of a lot less intrusive than a petrol engine would be with the same setup.
Cost, £310..
I'll try and get a vid taken later and upload it to youtube. It has to be heard to be believed for a diesel.
(apologises for pic quality, my good camera was in the car, up in the air DOH.)
Pete welding up the main section;
Almost at the end;
Joint onto the downpipe;
Middle box gone;
Rear box;
Tailpipes;
