This car is a wreck...
* Many hoses were put on pretty bad, blew them off like 5-6 times.
* Too thick clamps and too short hoses in some places.
* The throttle doesn't shut fully after opening, making the thing idle like sh*t, need a stiffer spring in there...
* The oil catch is into a bottle which sprays through the entire engine bay
* Alignment is off
* Strong vibration over 140kph
* Alternator belt broke
* Dash not working (4 cyl dash)
* Oil pressure gauge/sensor broken
* Lights were pointing to the sky
* All the connectors and cabling are like a ratsnest in the engine bay, everything needs to be tidied up
* The car was draining the battery, traced it to a lambda
* The suspension is very soft, bushes need changing for sure
* Airbag light is on all the time
* There was a million boost leaks, injector inserts, etc
* The MAF on suction side was connected very badly with lots of air leaking everywhere.
* There is an oil leak from the pressure sensor
* The clutch makes noise when engaging
* The car makes a noise when turning left
* 2nd gear pops out every now and then, 6th gear is very hard to get into, due to the linkage.
* The fuel pump was not relayed, so the fuel pressure was tapering
* The EVAP is connected into the heating system somehow, so if you put the heat on the car is full of gasoline fumes.
* And finally, I got stopped by the police twice in 2 days working on this damn thing. Luckily both times the car was stopped quietly, so no fines...
So as you can see, lots to do with the car...
As for the good part, I am almost done with the thing. Most of the time was spent fixing various hoses, relaying fuel pump, etc etc... Hopefully can fix the alternator belt tomorrow.
So, some figures:
* 2.2 bar peak boost
* Full boost at 4200 rpm in 3rd
* 1.9 bar at 7000 rpm
* 1.8 bar at 7500 rpm
* 89% IDC on 630cc injectors with 11.9 AFR
The way this engine breathes is quite amazing.
The engine could use a slightly bigger turbo to uncover the full potential of the high lift cams, but it is nice to drive as is as well...
It has 19" low profile tyres, it has absolutely no traction in 1st, and it has no traction in 2nd after 5500 rpm.
Calculating the IDC, would give about 570-580 horsepower, and I would say this is on the mark. Cylinder filling is similar to what a stock head gives with 2.5+ bar boost.
245 load at 5000 rpm and 200 load at 7500 rpm.
Tomas is scared driving the car, so I guess mission accomplished.
Going to slightly finetune the cold start tomorrow, and then it's ready.
