Hows your engine mounts? my Roose intake hose fitted so much better after I changed to solid engine mounts.
Was suppose to give you a shout when I was home but never got the chance
Think I have 3b and ABY maf to turbo hose in the shed if you need?

    cheers

Hi Steve, no worries. Engine mounts most likely original and shot... Is there a guide anywhere for replacing them? Everything does seem 'pushed forward' at the front there, so that'd make a lot of sense.....

What's the difference between aby and 3b maf>turbo hoses?

Mounts are not to bad to change think I raised the car on stands then used trolley jack to hold the engine up, turbo side is a bit of a cow.
I had a look on my project thread I had the waste gate off as well.

Oil breather to cam cover and wgfv are in different positions on the maf hose.
Sure you can plumb in a ABY one though.

        Cheers

Should get cracking now the weather's not so bad and days are lighter. Got some bambridge brackets for the 996 calipers so only got to arrange shipping for one caliper that's sitting with family in the US and then I'm good to get the big stoppers on

Couple of engine mounts, gearbox mounts on the way then to fit the decats and welding the exhaust bracket.

Also pictured are bambridge derlin solid inner-tie rod bushes

              Nice pack of goodies
Engine mounts are not too bad to change - the captive bolts might come loose so have some M10x45 bolts handy if they do

A slightly more worthwhile update now Thought I'd get the front leather in and pull the carpet up to trace the wiring for the central locking that has been knackered for about a year....

                Before and after cleaning:

Found the seats had been 'modded' to fit another model with some jubilee clips to move the adjuster to the other side:

Swapped them over to the original positions and fitted along with the mats I got for Christmas:

So before fitting the driver side seat I thought I'd have a look at the CL wiring. My brother (a sparky) has been promising to look for months but just hasn't had time, so despite me being worse than useless with wiring and electrics, I managed to track this:

I crimped in a new section and we're back in business

For the record, Newsh told me this was probably the problem with my CL all along

                  Central locking's overrated

Also where did you get those carpets from?

Isn't it a great feeling when the central locking gets fixed? I fixed mine a few months ago after not having it working since I brought the car almost 5 years ago and it makes me feel like I have a brand new toy to play with lol. Looking good also with a Hoover under the seats and nice new leather ones fitted.

To celebrate its 23rd birthday I got the rear leather in. For the first time since I bought the car it has a complete interior, working central locking, interior lights and rear speakers (the Sony items fitted in the OE hidden positions). Built up the rear suspension (new Koni adjustable shocks, new dust covers, new bump stops, new Lemforder top mounts, new blah blah blah) ready for a nice day and decided to order all the ***** for the front 996 conversion as the worn standard brakes will either fail the imminent MOT or kill me.

Got the companion of my solo caliper shipped from the US:

Spent a little extra to get some quality pads:

Got Brembo 314mm A8 discs due any day as well as ATE blue DOT 4 fluid which seems to get good reviews for normal use. Basically just to decide on either RS2 hard lines to the caliper or a custom braided hose. Very interested to hear opinions on that.

Good work on the brakes. My Emerald Pearl 3b is getting some new brakes shortly, so will be interested to see if you go for braided or RS2 items. Heard mixed reports on braided hoses.

Out of interest, how many miles has yours done and is the standard 5spd box standing up ok or do you know if it has ever been replaced or reconned. Mine has possibly started to whine slightly in 3rd and 4th. Will be having it checked out shortly.

I have hard lines as they are cheap/easy to make, but would like to find some OEM flexis to fit, purely for easy of future service work.
