    My 1.8t CQ - 2 engines later....

Well I picked up my buddies '91 CQ as he was moving out of state. He swapped tan interior for a platinum one and started to build an s2 clone. After spending months on a no start issue...he sold off lots of parts....then I bought it while picking up a transmission for my v8 cq.

while waiting on a few missing intake and fueling pieces i whipped out one of these.

then i realized what the true no start issue was...

    so off came the head...

    snagged a b4 front/hood, a 7a, and a bag-o-snakes

    v-banded

    034 engine mounts
    034 front snub mount
    034 silicone coolant hoses
    034 silicone breather hoses
    new reman starter
    new reman alternator
    new reman crank dampener
new crank "super torque" timing gear
new timing belt, water pump, roller

ran but sounded like it was missing badly...so Javad@034 hooked me up on a new injector set

decided to test compression on the replacement 7a since it still barely ran.... 0, 0, 0, 148, 148

about 2 weeks ago i toyed with the 1.8t idea and grabbed our mock up 1.8t aeb block/awm head...
here is what i came up with so far with parts laying around

last weekend i built 2 motor mounts and here is where i am today.

so much room upfront its fantastic.

    what i have already:
    14lb solid flywheel
    stage 2 sprung 228mm clutch
aeb engine harness converted to newer 4 wire coil packs

    '91 Pearl 3.6 V8 CQ - building
    '13.5 Jetta GLI - toy
'15 Subaru Imprezzzza - work daily

are you planning on using the stock 1.8t Wiring harness? have you integrated it into the stock setup yet? if not, do you mind documenting it well?

yes, using a 058 B5 A4 harness that has been converted to 4 wire coilpacks.

I plan on pulling the dash to make this as oem as possible. I will document all changes.

Sorry Ruffiano, been working on the swap at a causal pace.

ended up picking up 2 AEB heads

had to modify the pilot bearing since i started with an automatic crank from a B5

radiator is in. need to weld a bung in for the fan switch. modded the radiator cap to pass coolant through and seal.

picked up a MK3 1.9 TDI water pump pulley and a MK2 1.8 thermostat outlet flange. this weeks task is to finish the cooling system.

needed to tie in a few coolant lines so i picked these up. looks like these are made for sensors...these have a 3/8 fitting so i can put a 90* and a 5/8 barb fittings on.

the lower union ties the coolant bottle in

also snagged a new 2300 cfm Perma-cool fan. it is nice having Summit Racing 20min away

IC brackets are temporary. Talk about a reduction in heat soak with all that space!
