But S4 has fog lights already, at least there is a switch for them, so wouldn't it be wierd to jave 2 sets?

I like the fogs in the bumper better, maybe you could do both? Retain the S4 headlights and install fogs in the bumper?

Wire a second switch in and then you have a choice which ones you use dependent on the "scene"

On my mates pre-facelift A4 we just disconnected the fogs in the headlight and connected the feed to bumper foglights and voila.

hmm, didn't think of this. That would save all the hassle with fog light wiring loom I do like fog lights in bumper better too, makes it look more muscular Thanks

You need the S4 vents in the bumper instead of the 100s fogs if you fun the OE oil cooler or intercooler.

I can always use FMIC and front mounted oil cooler

Here is a video of exhaust sound of my V6 (no cat, no mufflers)

So I finally finished Uni for the Easter, and now I could take a proper look at my purchase. I have taken loads of pictures just to show you what I have bought.

Only thing that's bad in interior is headlining that have come undone, and oil temperature gauge is peeling off, that's it really.

Exterior wise. There is rust on rear arch and drivers door (both just surface rust) and boot lid is rusty, but I can take that from my A100, so won't cost anything. Also wings have some bubbling, but that is an easy fix. Roof and bonnet have little tiny cracks all over it (original paintwork), so that'll need re-spray, I can take bonnet from my A100 as well, it isn't perfect, but better.

Rocker cover is leaking (easy fix) and that's about it, although I think valve compensators(is that how they're called?) needs changing. Also, on waste gate there is that vacuum port that's blank, where does that go? Couldn't find anything online. There are rust patches in the engine bay too.

As for underbody, well, pictures talk for themselves.

Taking all this into an account, I have came to a conclusion that this will be a bigger resto than I thought initially. I am thinking of removing the engine and cleaning up the rust and possibly respray the engine bay too, it would also give me a good access to engine as well.

Talking about the underbody, that will be the biggest thing I think. I want to take all the subframes off, sand blast them and powdercoat them and also sort any frame rust. (I know people have done this, if not a secred, how much-ish something like this would cost?)

So, this is a quick update, let me know what you think guys!

I think you have an awesome car.. The work involved to bring it up to a high standard is your choice and I think you will do good with it - The interior looks very tidy

Thanks, I think that too. Suspension is all good, it's just the rust, and that will only get worse, as I am keeping car for long, might as well sort it out, as you said, to a high standard. Interior is very tidy, no rips or tears on sets or carpet. No unwanted holes in dash or door cards. Very pleased.

Compared to some I have seen the underneath looks pretty good

One thing to check though is the petrol tank, its worth coating as much of it as you can see in some rust proofing juice of some kind, in particular the passenger side of it right next to the propshaft, thats where 99% of them leak eventually

That's why I am quite happy about the car, it isn't that bad. WIll take time to sort everything out properly, but it will be worth doing, as rust only gets worse and worse.

So, I have C6 RS6 replicas(225/40/18) on my A100, and I obviously thinking of putting them on my S4, but after riding on sport suspension and 225/50/16 I realised that ride would be pretty appalling on my 18's.

Problem is, I really really like these RS6 alloys, so, I am thinking of buying the same wheels, but 17" and put all season 225/45 on them.

What sort of size people are running on their S/RS2's and S4's?

                              cheers

I pulled out the ignition coils today, and well, they look pretty bad. I honestly don't think they have been changed since 1992 So as part of my "service" I want to change all the coils, but what to put in? I had a look around here, I see you can do 1.8T conversion, use 2.0 TFSI and V8 coils, but is it really worth doing, or I can just buy OE coils?

Just want to add, I will not do massive modifications on it, just a remap really. 300hp ish works for me OK
