Not going to ADI this year unfortunately. But I don't want to pay for whole cluster when I only need the faces

This is it. I managed to fit boot light without the frame, but at the front the headliner is just too flimsy, even with the metal frame it just won't stick in there. So now I don't have interior lighting or sunroof switch

I feel like removing the headliner and use some fibre glass and reinforce it in places.

Been thinking of SORN-ing my S4 and get a diesel run around as i only do city driving mostly (getting 15mpg on S4), but they are asking £1800 for insurance on octavia/golf/focus which is just outrageous tbh. I am paying less for my S4 at the moment. Any suggestions?

Think that's mad, and you should be getting more than 15 in an S4, well in my mind anyways... suspect there is something up with it.

I think there is something very wrong, 15mpg around town and 25 mpg on recent 200mile run. There are no codes, car pulls nicely. It does seem to be running on oil, had half-level and after 200 miles it was on minimum, so half a liter of oil in 200 miles. Valve stem seals could be at fault, but can't see any blue smoke coming from the back. Also i have noticed after a drive ( when engine's upto temp) when i park up there is smoke/vapour coming out of exhaust and it smells quite badly too.

Sounds like a leaky injector, so unburnt fuel coming out the exhaust, does it burn the eyes?

Got all new seals on injectors recently, but I will get my dad to send me boost test thing we made up and see what's what.

I wouldn't say it burns eyes but it does have a specific smell to it, it's not just vapour.

Leaky injector meaning the internals have gone faulty, sticking open a bit or a lit, hosing fuel into it. It's a pretty amazing smell, really burns the eyes, so if you don't mention that then it could well be something else.

A boost leak is unlikely to cause this.

I'll try sticking my face in the smoke next time

I am not getting full boost anyway, so need to boost test.

In my experience the moment you SORN a car, is the moment you stop work on it, I'd strongly advise keeping it as a daily, then you are bound to fix the problems

And how would you check MPG with it stuck in the garage

That's the problem, I don't have spare dosh to fix her up now, but there is no way I'm selling her. Thwn having a diesel run-around I could save up some money to do majority of work in one go.

Bowie has a point there, but driving a car that does 15 MPG would make me very sad to use as a daily.

What I don't want to do is leave all the probelms and end up with an S4 that's genuinely falling apart. And yes, 15mpg is horrible. Mate of mine has a V8 S6, and he gets 17 liters to 100 km, mine is 18 on a I5

I can make my I5 do 15 if I really really try... currently around 26, which is livable, just

Your 15mpg may be something really really simple, you got VAGCOM or a mate with it?

I won't say I drive like granny, but even if I do, it still does 15mpg. I do have vagcom and that says there are no codes. Mate, if i would get 26 I would be very happy chap. What are you getting on motorway runs?

I remember getting 35mpg outta my V6, and about 30mpg when flying.
