South Africa 2008 My 1996 ABY S2

Hi mastermind,

I hope to have it with me within the next 2 months

As you know parts a hard to get in SA I am always interested in S2/RS2 parts.

I am looking for

Black floor mats
Complete black carpet
Complete set of black interior trim.

Any of the above would be of great help.

For my upgrade to RS2 spec I still need to purchase.

R8 (Red top) coil pack DONE
Upgraded DP (3") or an original RS2 2.75" DP
Exhaust manifold and turbo gaskets (RS2)
Silicon hose kit for turbo etc.
RS2 cross member for mounting an RS2 Intercooler DONE
Wiper conversion for front and rear

I am still contemplating converting the front bumper to the RS2 style, not sure if there is going to be any real benefit. NOT GOING TO DO

It would be great if you can assist with any of the above.

So I am at the end of another year of waiting still no car.

Frustrate to hell that they said they will finish the job Aug 2015 in one week and we are about to go into 2016.

The body shop have now also lost the special socket to remove the wheel bolts.

4 New bolts and a new key now added to the list of many missing or damaged part that I have had to replace.

Nightmare, I feel for you Orsum.. My Ur has been off the road about the same amount of time, first body shop did nothing for 2 years except poor work and excuses. It is now at QC and progress is being made.

10-06-2016 Latest update.

Its been a long road but my S2 Coupe is ready and coming home tomorrow. The added delay was an issue with rust in the tank (had it flushed) and the petrol pump packed in. (Replaced with a Bosch 044)

Going to start the day with a 300km drive for fun and then wash and wax with my special home made wax.

Performance mods will come later.

Well good and bad news.

Car is at home runs great but found paint defects that required the car to be returned.

Have to put off the picture.

Some more work needed

A few more thing to do and I will be finished.

Purchased some more stuff from Audi to stop the slight rocking of the front seats and a new packing for the driver’s seat.

New bush for the cruise control throttle, full set of gaskets (spares for a rainy day)

If you read this and you are based in SA I am looking for a bomb (Brake accumulator) I would prefer a faulty unit, I am planning to see if I can get one repaired, plus planning some mods which I will talk about another time.

Please contact me if you had a damaged bomb that I can try to repair.

Still looking for a floor carpet.

I will be sending the car away next week for a paint detailing, even though it’s been repainted and it looks good it’s going to get a final detailing before I say the paintwork is finished, drivers front bottom grill to be secured, rear logo to be fitted and a realigning of the driver’s door, it’s a bit off.

Interior door handles don't look right slightly out of alignment, passenger electric window not working and driver’s door window switch to be reversed.

Sun roof not seating at the back.

Once it comes back I will be addressing the cruise control stalk strip and clean, the dip and head light upgrade, sound system upgrade.

Brake testing and possible Bomb replacement.

Once all that has been done it’s the full RS2 upgrade.

Pictures will follow once the body has been completed.

For the second time I am picking up my S2 today.

If all is ok I expect the fitting of all the upgrades to start soon.

Not happy car did not come home, spotted several issues I was not happy with.

They said they will sort them out by Friday.

I see your update - No surprises there then given your experiences to date.

Surely there must be someone in the South Africa that is good enough to know what they are doing with this car ?

There are plenty who can do it I just agreed to move the car to the wrong place for the assembly after the paint job.

In saying that the car is now back were I originally took the car and they are correcting all the mistakes made by others, they are keeping there word in getting everything right, what they have corrected so far is good.

The issue is that of quality. When they say the car is finished it could be but not to a pedantic person like myself.

I have come this far and I will not accept anything less than a perfect or OEM finish.

Just to give an indication of one of the things I failed it on.

Rear bottom of driver door was +/-1.5mm out of alignment, they were to set the door gaps, they did not do it so I failed the car.

I know they will get it right.

You need to be somewhat so inclined to be able to tend to / deal with these S cars.
