I let my crankhaft balance by a specialist in Laakirchen, Upper Austria and he also said, that you dont have to use bob weights.
First he thought, that I need bob weights, but than he tried it without the weights on low rpm and he said it is perfect.

Oem 2,2 crank is balance front and back to ~0
Oem 2.5 crank is balance front and back to ~60g.
Is i think i have to look whats the bob weight fron tdi, than the bobweight from my new piston and drill the different from each counterweight of the crank. Than balance it with my bob weight to 0.

The bottom bearings only have the mass forces from the piston.
The polishing is not really wear. Wear looks different.
Anyways - you need bob weights. Every time when your crankshaft is not mirror symmetrical you need them.
I4 engines often don't need them (in standard design never). All other need them. I5,V6,V8 (cross plan, flat plan same like I4).
Power at same level means turbo can deliver enough air. Look for the restrictive part. Head work, manifold etc.
Leakages at your inter cooler. Measure the pressure drop!
