I couldn't get any from my supplier so I use arp,and arp come with a torque setting on paper so what ever torque you've done is wrong unless you use a girdle plate I doubt mains need line hone

i got a new oil pump when I did mine. a proper audi one. made in korea IIRC!!

it had swarf in it and didn't fit as well as the old pump.

id question replacing a good pump unless doing the full lot. by that i mean block, pistons, crank. we have good oil pressure detection and gauges to help us.

The original ones were made there too... the one I replaced recently (almost certain it is original, I have had it 15 years!) had made in Korea on that too.

You doubt? Sounds fague. I have torqued my arp mains to 88nm as the arp instructions said. At that time I know for sure it needed line honing. Not sure on what a gridle plate has to do with it?

If you torque them in spec 90% will not need line boring.Just getting 5-10 nm over will result in -0.03mm bore.

And after first 200-0 km/hour braking, you need brake upgrade.

Man,trust the members that say it is not a cheap job.It has been done,it is tested.Nobody wants to sell you anything, nobody wants you to get expensive with the build. It is how it works.

And coils+coil conversion loom, and much more.
And new spark plugs maybe? And new fresh oil+filterX2?Because you run the first oil 1000km for the rings to set.Or if you are crazy enough you run the first oil just 30 seconds and throw it.After that the 1000km oil and after that the final one.And after 5000 km maybe you want to get the head off the engine and inspect the honing on the cylinders.
If you get the job cheap you will pay double if you continue to repair things.
If you do not have budget for 500 reliable hp it is not a shame. It is not mandatory to have it.Just enjoy the car as it is.

What spec do you mean? The stock spec or the arp spec's?

When I torqued my arp mains to 88nm as spec without line honing I could not turn my crank at all. Strange

It is not strange. What needs to be done is measure the mains for roundness with bolts low torqued(1/4 or less from total). If all is round, getting to 100% torque arp says will not get more than 0.01mm out.If it does, something is wrong with tensions inside the block and reboring is needed.
Or you could find the mains not round even at1/4 of torque.
