The same steps I did on the engine itself. On TDC the piston crown is about the same height as the deck. So what I did was to lower the piston the thicknes of the headgasket. Then I cc'ed that out and did the maths with the cc's that I measered from the head. Then you have the total CC of the combustion chamber. It was between 60 and 60,4 cc in total. That made the CR a little bit to high 'bout 8,5 was it. After calculating what thickness of extra headgasket I would have to add to accomplish CR 8:1. That was 1 mm. I combined 2 metal headgaskets to make one. I only needed the middle layer. So I drilled out the rivets of both and made one thicker gasket. Now the CR is 8:1

Meanwhile the head is on, and the camcover painted in Halligan wrinkle
Aswell as the Wagner IM, I painted that in wrinkle paint aswell. Looks great, need to take a pic of that.

Hey Jeffer - some serious engineering going on there. Looking good... Some folks poo-poo the idea of using two gaskets the way you have, but let us know how you get on with that. The combination of an exotic bottom-end, CR=8.0 and a K29 compressor at full chat should be errrrr 'FUN' when it gets up to speed. Would also like honest views on lag, driveability midrange as well !

I used the 1 mm layer and te thinner silver/chroom like layer to seal it of.Originally posted by Doug_RS2did you use 2nd headgasket centre next to the other headgasket centre? Without a compression layer in between? Can you expalin that a bit more?
It looks real nice.Comment

haha.
No serious, I think it is a very plausible solution to ad just the middle layer and the sealing layer from a second headgasket. No way that's going to blow out. What I'm still after are the torque settings of the ARP headstuds.
The next mayer step for us to do is the exhaust manifold welding. Then everything is done and I head of to Mihnea
I have no clue what I'm 'bout to expect from this setup. Driveability isn't really a big factor for me, and I don't mind lag. 75% of the time I drive it it will be in traffic Jams.
My goal is at least 500 BHP. off course I put my hopes on more then that.
As soon as we get on the road I'll let you guys know on drivability en boost lag etc.

Mihnea and I did some calculations on the gearbox and the topspeed. In a special program you have to add all the ratio's of the gearbox and torque/HP of the car along with wheel sizes and drag CO. After putting in those data we came to a top speed of............................330 something km/h
at 7600 rpm
That was mainly because the EDU has a very long 5 th and 6th gear.
FYI

Holy moley - can you share that program ?
I don't have any calcs for aerodynamic drag and how that effects top speed etc ...

You have to ask Mihnea, he had it on his laptop

*update*
Hopefully all the materials comes in this week for the exhaust manifold. That's the last bid that needs to be made. Aluminium flywheel is balanced. Engine is back in one piece. Wagner IM is also painted wrinkle finish black. Looks the Dogs! The paint covers the rough surface of the manifold nicely
Will post some pics of that. Homemade catchtank is finished and polished
Now its "only" the EM welding.
keep you posted.Comment

Are you going to sell EMs ? How much for them?
I am going to paint my inlet manifold withteh wrinkle stuf jsut to hide the work I have done on my modded aan - sorry for copying you and Mark - but it just look awesome!S2,RS2,S4 WB,RS4,S4 B8,RS6 C5,RS6 C6,R8Comment
