Looks like it's going to be lovely when it's done Mike
Honda CBR 1100XX Blackbird Turbo....undergoing major changes.....
S2 Coupe... bit easier off the line...
'03 ZX12-R daily hack.... lots of nice bolt ons...
Had to use the grinder to the exhaust / cat joints - just full of rust and the bolts had more or less disappeared. Got the airbox and wastegate off but hit a snag with one of the downpipe nuts.
Will likely be after Christmas before the engine is out
Engine and gearbox out would be the best bet imho given the various jobs you need to do. It will also allow you to do a few other jobs that you haven't mentioned / remembered just yet.
A case in point being the two water hoses under the inlet manifold, much easier to do when the engine is out. Others will be able to suggest the other items that'll need to be tackled when the engine is out and 'while you're in there'.
Also it will give you much easier access to all the varoius hard to reach nuts that are most likely semi seized and probably not copper greased given the car's age. Taking the engine and gearbox out as one will also allow you to do the petrol pipes with less back strain, as well as to easily clean the painted sections of the engine bay.
Alos it's handy for you that you're under no pressure to have the car 'back in service' before Christmas or a deadline in January 2017.
As a previous S2 owner, you'll know all of the above, but it can be helpful to hear what others think.
I've got no facilities for removing the gearbox so I'll take the engine out instead.
Clutch pedal is on the floor so debating whether to get a new slave cylinder. I'm a bit suspicious of the Sachs ones at £36.
It's possible that bleeding it may fix it but it's one of those items that's much easier to replace if there's no engine
That's exactly what I did. Engine out it was
Also went through x3 new slave cylinders. The replacements are mainly junk, found a good unit of ebay in the end, it was branded aftermarket but looked like ex-audi stock.
Every time I press the clutch pedal I pray it holds up!
