Good work. I once did the same, and it made a difference.

First stage of sound deadening complete. Tomorrow I will start installing the soft acoustic liner. I ran out of the dynamat and local car hifi store only had ctk in stock, so it's a bit of a mix of brands but they will be hidden under the carpet

B5 passat estate looks identical. Do you have a breakers yard near you?

Thanks for the offer, I'm in Finland. The postage and customs duties will probably kill it.

Thanks mate, that make sense as my old Sykes Pickavant vice mounted tool is a decent bit of kit. Guess I've probably been try to flair non annealed steel lines, which is pretty thick, durrr...

Will have another go with with annealing any steel lines before trying to flare them in future, I really should have thought of that myself, still you learn something everyday.

I also got a phone call from the landlord a couple weeks back and it seems that he wants to sell the garage. If the next owner doesn't want to sign a new lease, I have to find a new place to continue the project. I'm not too happy if have to move an ongoing project

Do you know what grade SS it is? There's more grades than I can name for all sorts of applications, perhaps it's a softer alloy designed to be more malleable.

Stainless brake piping was made. The one that goes around the rear subframe has so many bends in it that first I had to make a mockup from copper pipe and then I made the final pipe from stainless. Rear subframe also in its place.

Then it was time to flip the car

I sanded all the body panels plus the engine compartment. Top of the windscreen had some rust, these were sandblasted and then all the bare metal surfaces got etch primer. Sharktail got removed from the roof. Any tips on what type of aerial fits these cars?

Before spraying sanding primer I decided to put in all the sound deadeding. I ran out of the butyl sheets so I have to continue next week.
