Do you have some part no. for porsche pads or ferrodo pads that fits the 996 upgrade? Could really use this.

I believe the Ferodo part number for the highly rated DS2500 pads is FRP3051 - these fit the 996 monos. You might wish to confirm that locally before spending money - they are VERY expensive pads.

Use search , or make your own screenshot from public sources:
      Linky

I would suggest include link to this into 996 howto:
      http://www.heumann.com/bigred/index.html

      Really good guide IMO.

P.S. If you really need screenshot from family album - PM.

Hey good links there - thanks

So I think I need 996.351.088.01 (4-off) as pad backing plates
And 1-off 996.351.959.01 for the fitting kit with pins & clips for 2 calipers

Only slight niggle is that http://www.slybadger.com/cars/s2/brakedetail.htm calls up 996.351.969.01 as the fitting kit - can you check which is right from the official family album please ?

Paul, its all there on my site!

There is also a THREAD WITH PET CATALOGUE PAGES

(EDIT - my site used to say '969' rather than '959' (thats either a typo or it was difficult to read off the dot matrix porsche receipt! fixed now - Go order!)

Glad to see im not the only one doing this upgrade at the moment!

Have 996 callipers, DS2500 pads, 323x30 S8 discs, SEAT carriers (which are bloody brilliant for the money) and a load of bolts from audi. Am getting the SS hoses fabb'ed up and just need to get the pad dampening plate etc as other people have mentioned.

I`ll just add my experience to this thread.

I got some 996 calipers from BRY, got the 314x30mm discs from my local motor factors and orderd the ibiza brackets from jennings part no 6KL 615 421.

All i was expecting to do was machine the caliper mounting face off until the caliper lined up with the disc and cleared the wheel which was an easy job on the milling machine at work (approx 5mm for 314mm disc, running standard avus wheels).

Unfortunately the the caliper is about 6-7mm off centre from the A8 disc meaning the bolt holes will not line up, so i decided to fill the original holes with weld and drill n tap some new ones with the caliper in the correct position. Basically the carrier doesent fit or i bought the wrong discs (how many A8 discs can there be).

I could have took some meat off the carrier to hub mounting face to bring the caliper in line with the disc but too much material needed to be removed and would sacrifice the strength of the carrier.

                    Any thoughts?

Baz, what is the overall hat height on the A8 discs you have?
You do have to machine some material off both faces of the Seat bracket BTW.

Yes BRY, both faces of the carrier need machining.

Hat height from the wheel to the centre of the disc is 45mm, from the drive flange it`s 38mm meaning the disc mounting face is 7mm thick.

So hat height is 30mm, i think (from the wheel to the front side of the disc).

I decided that i wanted to keep the bracket dimensions as seat intended so i re-drilled the holes in the correct position.

Did`nt know both faces needed machining

Overall hat height should be 60mm, so it sounds like you have the correct discs.
If you had asked about the brackets, I would have told you.

@Bry - can you please post up a pic and/or details of the modifications requitred to Seat carrier and 996 caliper for the 314mm conversion.

Also - Does the Seat carrier with 323mm disc needs to be spaced out like the RS2 carrier with the 996 caliper or is it a bolt-on fit ?

I just want to update S2central.net with the cold hard facts so we have a static record of all the common options for this popular upgrade.
