Too true, Andy. It wasn't meant to come across as a flame, just a correction.

Not much of an update on this as we are still no clearer as to where we are on it. What has been done so far is:

          - abs pick up rings cleaned
          - abs sensors all checked.
          - all 8 driveshaft cv boots removed to check bearings - all ok.
          - wheel bearings checked for play/binding - all ok.
          - brakes checked for binding, incl handbrake - all ok.
          - car run in gear on and off the ramp with steeering on full lock both sides - no noises.

          To be done -

          - all 4 discs and pads to be changed

I ran the car home yesterday very tentatively and back in to the garage today. The problem wasn't there but I didn't exceed 70 mph and was holding on to the wheel for dear life in case it happened. It was knackering!

The workshops guys are scratching their heads (I know that they really think that I've imagined it!!).

          Still hugely confused

I have just re read this, and it would point at brakes. Could the ABS controller have a "fit" and permenantly hold the OSF brake caliper on? This would cause a severe swerve.

Anyone seen or heard about this type of event?

            HTH

            Cheers,

            Steve.

ABS can only release pressure not add it.

I'm inclined to agree with newsh on this one as the car does not have any kind of stability control where individual brakes can be applied. It's a real mystery which is unfortunately stopping me from driving the girl....

It is a strange one! if you checked all the components and cant see anything wrong there is not a lot more on the legs that you can do.

Might be worth dropping the oil out of the box to see if there is anything braking down in there causing it to semi seize on one side. A damaged sun gear in the front diff for example..

Best of luck with it mate...

Oh. I'm slowly accruing those 6 speed parts....

The box is titted with one of those magnetic sump plug things and he checked for any bits of metal or discolouring of the oil or contaminates but it was clean as a whistle. I do have another box so might be worth swapping it over as we've pretty much exhausted all other options...

What do you have left to get mate? It takes forever doesn't it!? Saved ebay searches
