Unfortunately an ABS light on or failing to light if fitted has been a failure for a few years.

I thought until now if the ABS light was on it was an advisory?

The battery was disconected, and the two connectors on the pedel box are both plastic,so how could damage occur, would not the fuses protect it anyway.

I guess, if you can borrow an ABS ECU then this would rule out any such damage?

Is there a switch on the pedal that is not set properly in the correct position? Just a thought.

Have you got access to vagcom? If the light is on and the unit isn't dead you should have a dtc.

Have you checked the fuse from the top of the ABS relay?

An S6 won't have the ABS relay with a fuse.

When they removed the ABS cancel switch from the dash, they also updated the ecu and other electrics and removed that relay.

I suspect the ABS ecu module may be damaged. I've got an old S2 one lying around which is the same.

You can have it for postage if you're stuck.

Thanks I might take you up on that.
I went to the local breakers yard and there is a b4 a6 there it should have an abs ecu,
not sure where its located,is it the one under the back seat.

Certainly in the s2 it is under the rear seat.
