    I read that "djavant" uses the disc from a6 3.0 q 312mm (25mm thick)

I read that as well and it's not suitable.

Hi please inform me about the culprit is is hat height or other things? Is it possible to mill the discs or something to make it fit?

Like Porkkis said in the beginning of this thread:

Cupra discs are 28 thick and the calipers will work with 314x30. My friend has them fitted. It needed just a tiny bit of a file job on the caliper. Really tiny bit.
Another possibility is to get 314x30 and grind them down to 28 mm, but I'd rather grind the calipers.

Agreed Markus. Getting a disc skimmed from 30mm to 28mm is damn expensive. Wasn't keen on butchering brand new calipers either. Ended up selling the calipers and buying some Porsche ones.

You cannot really use a 25mm disc in a 28mm caliper. Thicker discs offer more heat dissipation and the pistons remain within the correct travel tolerance. Thinner discs extend the piston travel too much.

So the Seat calipers mentioned above, the cheap ones with one bleeder that is, - which Porsche caliper is closest to it in spec? If it's made for a 305 x 28 disc it should be Boxster or 996 but it's aslo not a monblock which should make it 993 Carrera? Or?

The difference between 28 and 30 is 2. Devide 2 by 2 you end up with 1. Now - can't I just machine down the caliper inside to make room for a 30mm disc? Are you dead certain a 30mm disc won't fit?

I'm reffering to these calipers and looking at the pics a 30mm disc should fit...With machining that is...

Same page as earlier in the thread!

And then there's the surface area of the pads - which is smaller than the stock pads.... But the calipers are cheap thoug. Anyone know what the P/N for the bigger SEAT caliper is?

314 X 30 disc requires only minor modifications to caliper. No need to use machinery, just file off 1mm from parts marked on the photo.

Just like I thought then. But now my big concern is spad area. I mean, these SEAT calipers offer LESS surface area than a stock S2 caliper. So Now I'm leaning towards used 996's again.

                    Hi,
I believe the part numbers are:
                    1ML 615 105
                    1ML 615 106.
I'll see if I can post a pic. It is difficult to see what the difference is. I think they are physically larger, have two bleed nipples not one. Perhaps that is the major difference. The Ibiza ones must have internal galleries, whilst the Leon ones have bridge pipes. The Ibiza is is more compact, so can fit in a smaller wheel. Think the Leon uses 18".

                        Ok!,

Spot the difference. Not enough to make them 3X's as expensive.

If anyone wants a set of Brembos (monoblocks) then PM me, I have a set from the front of a prototype 2002 Renaultsport Megane which have the same bolt pitch as the std porsche brembos of 130mm. The centreline offset is different (more inboard I think). They accept production version pads and are retailing for £275 ex vat each through Renault.

The calipers are huge and have 4 x 40mm pistons. They accept a 323 x 30 without a prob - i actually measured up a 345x30 Audi s8 disc which looked tight but may have worked. ONLY reason I am selling is tha Martinjs made me some brackets for a 996/Boxster monoblock and I took a chance on these calipers fitting - they dont line up. So i am retaining the brackets and looking for porsche boxster brembos instead.

I'll post a separate link on the f/s forum but if anyone wants pics and more details then PM

                              Cheers

                                Some more info.
The gap is 30.65mm. C/C is 130mm. M12 bolt holes.
I was informed that the pads were the same. They might be dimensionally, but not in terms of material. The numbers on the pad I have do not match those on that other link.
                                Hope that helps someone.
Not the ultimate brake upgrade but certaintly a step in the right direction even if it is just replacing a new caliper for a knackered G60. Economically, if you have to buy a rebuild kit for the caliper, pads and discs, then assuming that an affordablely priced disc is available, I doubt whether there is a lot in it.
