    dry sump

Hi Jamal, i'd be interested in a dry sump kit , espacially after the problems I had at a trackday recentley, lots of oil surge.
I'd be interested in a system similar to the quattro S1, let me know how you go on.

I know the price for drysump kit is expensive, please do not forget that England is probably one of the most expensive countries in Western Europe, therefore you have to pay the price.
The cost of the pump is not expensive approx 500-600 GBP.
As the ancillaries are not mass produced and for our purposes (only a few units) they are all machined as one off therefore the cost of brackets, pulleys, blanking plates etc. is what pumps the price up. You know how much braided hoses are specially the larger ones that are needed for the drysump kit.
If large quantities where made the sump could be cast and remanufactured but we have to use our alloy ones and they have to be heavely modified, basically only the perimeter will be used.

I was not expecting any takers, but as I am having a couple made I thought I let you know just in case.

This thread went dead a long time ago as costs made no financial sense for most people and only makes sense for hi power engine and if they are used on the track as L7apk mentiones and I agree with him, plus all the advantages of a dry sump.

If there were more members interested ie.: a group buy we could get them possibly cheaper but for 2 potentail orders at the moment I have no bargaining power.

      And there is the VAT

In respect of the pictures above the sump pan is not right, should be in a form of a small "V" with very small baffles, the bottom of the "V" should have the scavanging outlets and not to the sides, nice bit of machining but that is all.

I was gonna say myself, all the dry sump pans I've seen are made into a V, with the pickups at the lowest point. I think he'll have problems with what he's made there...

Perhaps the angle of the engine will compensate????

I think all of the WRC's use wet sump systems (I assume due to the regulations) but old Group B's and almost all divison 1 Rallycross cars use dry sump systems. Also the S2 of Tommy Kristoffersson had dry sump, but this was IMSA (inspired) technology...

Maybe ask him or Julian Godfrey who was some what involved in that project. Maybe KRB or VS Motor have experience with them. Or Trollspeed?

                              Just a thought:

Isn't one of the benefits of the drysump system that you have:
1 more oil in your system (no starvation if designed correctly)
2 oil remotly stocked (in a cooler place) so cooler oil
3 lots of oil line which could help oilcooling as well
4 more oil means less duty cycle (as the same oil passes less in the same time), therefore it has more time to cool off in between

This would mean you can probably save some money for a bigger oil cooler, as the standard one will probably do?
Also because of the more oil, you could probably increase oil intervals, because if you have double the oil, it will be circulated half as much!?
