        ecu codes

ok, I just checked for spark by pulling out lead and plugging in a spar spark plug.

Cranked engine but no spark. Does the plug need to be grounded when you check for a spark?

I then puled the error coeds.
First Code was 4444 this ran through a few times.
I then Switched off ignition and back on to double check.

The Next code was 2113 2113 2113etc etc....

2113 (Blink Fault Code), VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number 00515 Hall sensor in distributor (3B, early AAN engines) or camshaft position Hall Effect sensor on later AAN (S4/S6 engine). Distributor alignment, faulty sender, Mis-located sensor & distributor, Cam timing possibly incorrect on AAN engine

I then tryed to start engine and much to my suprize it almost started. .

I reset the ecu to clear the codes and take them again before starting the engine.

The Next code was 2111 2111 etc...

2111 (Blink Fault Code), VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number 00513 RPM sensor Open or short circuit, Defective sensor & cables, metal fragments on flywheel teeth

So not the best of news.

Im still going to take the front of to check the cam alignment. as i still don't believe that the gear or sensor would brake at the exact time that the belt is changed

        Cheers guys..

        Enjoy the weekend .

Yes. The spark plug needs to be grounded to spark.

Code 2111 is pretty normal. G28 doesn't function if the car isn't running. It doesn't necessarily mean there is a fault with it.

All the evidence seems to be pointing to the Hall Sender.

Yes, the plug needs placing next to a steel/alloy part of the engine as you crank it over (obviously not a paint surface or a visible piece of alloy)
The metal lifting eye just behind the camcover is as good a place as any.

                    No, No spark.... .
Just went to stealer and they checked on ETKA apparently the hall sensor from a 3B is not available individually??

                    Is this true.

The best he could offer me was the whole dissy for around £140 (exchange)..

                    cheers

Yeah. That's right I'm affraid. Hall sender isn't available on its own for the 3B.

                          Please mark lineup!

                          Hi Guys.
Turns out belt was very slack. and not lined up at all..

The image below has the cam wheel lined up spot on and the crank is way out.

Please mark what it should be lined up to on the engine body as all the markings have gone...
Need this asap as car is in peaces in public car park .
                          cheers lads.
