Out of interest though (this is dangerous lol) what torque level does the 28 offer? Similar to RS2? And how must is the downpipe to go with it?

The Inlet restrictor is very dangerous as it has a tiny hole to limit the oil pressure which can become blocked with dirt and kill your turbo.
I am using a in line oil filter from forced performance which has built in restrictor as well as the filter. damn expensive but worth it i reckon. check it out:

I have no figures of my own yet as the engines are still being built but I believe they will exceed the RS2 by a significant margin.

        $425 for the downpipe retail.

          What about surgin

from what I see from Kalsket those turbo make less boost at low Rpm than RS2's
I've got 2 bar at 2800 rpm with RS2 turbo

If I did get every thing right the best turbo for me would be RS2 because the internals must have something "Magic" according to Mihnea with dual ceramic ball bering to increase spool up.
            But that doesn't exist yet.

Yes it was! Thankfully only oil surging into the head and spilling out onto the turbo....!

maRS2, remember that pressure has almost nothing to do with power (torque), only thing that matters is air mass. With bigger turbo 0.5bar boost can give you more air mass than smaller with 2.0bar boost. Therefore look only at power/torque figures.

You mension 2bar at 2800 rpm, how much power/torque does it give you? This is what I have calculated for GT28RS wich should be close RS2-turbo:
                    2800rpm 179hp 450Nm with 1,3bar boost
                    (over 400Nm from 2400 to 6000 rpm)
                    4F 2006 avant 3.0tdi quattro
                    4B 2002 S6 avant quattro
typ85 sedan quattro with "minor" changes

I have about 600 NM at 3000 Rpm and already 310 Hp at 3500 rpm
Max power is 362 hp at 5500 rpm this is from dyno plot from guy with car with same set up as me also maped by Mihnea at about same time.

If you use this HP formula:

                        HP = Torque(mKg) at xRpm X xRpm /716

                        you get form me at 3000 rpm 60 x 3000/ 716 = 251 hp

This formula as you can see is also working for you

                          45 x 2800/716= 175,977

quite close from your 179 hp

                            Compare the 2 here

I chose the GT3071 as I am not bothered by the extra lag as it is being fitted to a 10v WR which has similar lag characteristics.
Dang that 3071 looks like a monster judging by the compressor map. What hotside did you go for Corey ?

I might have to play with the trusty turbo calculator today again - just to compare the theoretical max numbers on the 2871 versus the 3071. Looks like care is needed on the 3071 mapping to prevent it from surging.

Turbo spec is 2.75" inlet with .63ar, it has a funny shaped flange but as I have the matching downpipe it doesn't matter, if that answers your question Paul?
