Well I ended up with a tank of v-power yesterday, filled it up at the motorway-rip-off rate of 100.9. Can't say as I notice any difference between this and Tesco99 to be honest, and with the Tesco stuff significantly cheaper and earning me clubcard points, I'll be going there as regularly as I can for the near future! To clarify though, I noticed a huge difference going from ordinary 97 RON Super Unleaded to the Tesco99 stuff.Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...

I got an email back from Shell UK today.
The Shell V-Power now being sold here is 99 RON and 87.5 MON. (93 (R+M)/2)
I'm guessing those are the usual guarenteed minimum values. Typical values are usually slightly higher. (Apart from the odd dodgey batch we've been sold in the past
)

Got my first tankful today, the nearest Shell is half the distance of the nearest Tesco unfortunately, I'd say the Vstuff is better than the Optimax I've been getting.Comment

There's a good article in Evo this month on performance fuels, mainly talks about the new BP102 RON Fuel. ''The new V-Power contains FMT (friction Modification Technology) which is basically a added lubricant additive that reduces friction between the top piston ring and the cylinder wall lessening energy loss and increasing power''
The BP102 was tested by WRC technologies on a 996 GT3. BP claim a 4-7.5% increase in power with remapped ignition and greater with high performance turbo engines.
The 996 GT3 resuts were as follows:
On BP-97 RON 381.9BHP
On BP-102 RON 406.9BHP
On BP-102 RON (remapped) 430.0BHP
Sounds good stuff but at £2.40 a litre, its a bit expensive
Cheers,

"RON (Research Octane Number)" I thought it stood for Relative ocatane no.!? Anyhow, learned something new about the MON, (im guessing it stands for measured octane no.?)
Im on my 2nd £30 filling of Tesco 99 and can't say I've noticed much difference yet, but have been told that it takes a few tanks to notice the difference?

hey, i found better than V power with OMV Super 100 in Austria !!
that makes a real difference from 98 ! impressive !
OMV Super 100
The first sulfur-free petrol with 100 octane
The best gasoline for high performance engines and for those individuals who demand maximum performance from their vehicle. Our "OMV Super 100" is already available sulfur-free in all countries and possesses anti-knock properties of 100 ROZ (research octane rating). Selected high quality refinery components and a specially designed multifunctional additive package guarantees you the quality provided by "OMV Super 100".
With this fuel OMV has once again proven its leading position in the area of innovative and environmentally friendly high performance fuels. The most important advantages at a glance:
More performance due to full utilization of the engine capacity, in particular in respect of revolutions per minute and acceleration
Lower consumption due to optimum combustion
Protects the environment due to lower emissions
Introduced in Austria as the first sulfur-free fuel in 2004, "OMV Super 100" enables the performance potential of the engine to unfold better. Increased torque improves acceleration and in doing so ensures safety when overtaking and optimizes the performance on upward inclines and in stop/go traffic. The higher octane rating takes effect from the moment it's put into the tank.S2 's and oldtimersComment
