Have a look at the part numbers for the ABY, ADU and AAN Cam in the family album you'll find they are the same.

      those figures dont add up

Don't forget that the cam swap is only makes the best result, if it is timed well. A cam which designed to run in a n/a engine (like 7Aor NM) may not work better if it is in wrong position. For ex:
if u have restricted exh like small turbine, stock exh mani etc u may need longer duration and,or bigger lift to get rid of the exh gas. But if u have too big overlap too the boost pressure forces out the exh gas and also some air so u lose charge.
So my oppinion is for near stock appl. u should use NM intake & 7A exh, timed like they have no or just a few tenth mm overlap. this combo i've never tired, hard to find NM cams. I;ve tired 7A exh with aan intake it works really fine.

Thats a beautiful curve but not much going on below 5k, ok its a big turbo too I guess.

With the RS2 turbo I'm going for 3B inlet and 7A exhaust. I'm thinking of maybe going bigger with the turbo soon though.

True but part numbers dont lie, i've had the ABY and ADU inlet cam in hand and they are identical. Pays your money takes your choice.

Can you measure lift and duration in your hand?

                    Not always true Jamo mate,
I have a set of cast wishbones here that were from a batch produced with a wrong part number on them.
Part number cast into it says the wishbone is a four stud hub.
                    Go figure.

I don't know whether it's cause of 7A cams, bad cam aligment (he has both of them made adjustable) or just a lack of untuned ECU (Megasquirt)

I think that You can put them on - drive the car - If You don't like it much - leave the 7A exhaust cam only + 3B/AAN/ABY inlet.

I had bad experience with advancing the NM cams with just pulling the cam pulley 1 tooth back. The car with rs2 setup had a terrible lag before 3500rpm, after that - fantastic journey through the rev range.
I placed them in original place and the lag in daily driving around the city with GT3071R can be comparable to K24 system.
How much advance does moving the cam pulley 1 tooth do to the cams?

Unrelated did your friend get it to idle on the 7A cams out of interest?
