I cleaned my injectors by spraying a shed load of carb cleaner through them! No idea if it made a difference as the tapping noise I was trying to fix was due to tappets (which I fixed by filling the oil to the top of the dip stick scale on a fellow forum member's advice)!

Put a standard chip set in it and see how it fairs then. If it's still lean then you're no better off but you can eliminate the map. If it's correct or rich then you've identified your problem. Sure there's a standard ECU/chipset out there that someone would sell / lend you!

MRC would be the kiddies closest to you. Get a health check and see what they say. I found it a very useful £45 18 months ago!

@ Jamo : Paul chipped mine and David's car (3B's) at the first garage meet using some of Mihnea's software IIRC. You have to manually adjust the wastegate spring, tis possible tho

I'd say you just have dodgy chips. Boost leak should make it run richer, not leaner.

Rising fuel pressure would probably be a good temporary cure. It will bring your fuel consumption up as lambda control can't do miracles.

Rising pressure from 3 bar to 4 bar doesn't give 30% more fuel. Injector flow is not directly proportional to rail pressure.

Measuring the FP is a good idea too. It should be 3,0 +- 0,1 bar.

            Uhh??
Im 99% sure S2-central does chips for both the 3b and ABY??

and if he doesnt they are still easily available for both..

Forgot to say reason I ask is the ANN injectors I have seem to have four holes in the injection side where as the 3B ones have one big pin type thingy!!

Different spray patterns maybe? My ABY injectors have the pin holes. Providing the flow rate and resistance is the same, I can't see whay there's be a problem.

Yes ABY/AAN injectors have better spray pattern. Just get it checked out properly by MRC. With your setup you dont need different FPR's etc if everything is working as it should be. To use ABY/AAN FPR on the 3B you need the fuel rail also because its a completely different setup.

Paul no longer does 3B chips as Mihnea joined MRC and now MRC have the rights to the 3B generic chip code.

Leak in MAF hose or PCV system could make it run lean, drawing in unmetered air.

fuel filter was fitted just before rolling road ....... @ jamo ... the leanness comes in @ boost and stays all way up and i get hesitence in 4th and 5th at high rpm -- 4K - 6K

@newsh how would i check the maf and pvc for leaks? .... just a visual? or is there more to it?

I still say it's a mapping issue, what would be interesting would be if anyone close to you had an MRC / Home fried 3B ecu and put it in your car on the rollers and see what the results are. That way you would know once and for all if it's the mapping.

Run the pressure test with only the Maf hose bunged, check for leaks around the back of the engine. Or, do a really careful visual of the MAF hose and temporarily disconnect the PCV system where it joins into the MAF hose and plug the hole, take it for a run.

I had that misfire between 4-5k, have no idea what eventually fixed it, or cant remember You could see it as a dip in the curves on the dyno run.

You could also check the atmospheric pressure senson, there's a thread somewhere about it.
