    7a won't start, not injecting

I've just fully rebuilt my engine and got it fitted and wired up but she's failing to start, after checking the basics of timing and spark I've narrowed it down to fuel, I've got fuel to the rail but after cranking over and pulling a plug the plugs are bone dry, whist I was rebuilding it I fitted a set of bosch injectors and a bypass loom I got second hand. My next step if to take them out and replace them with the originals that it ran on before the rebuild so I was wondering if anyone knew of any further checks to make if that doesn't work as the Haynes manual isn't much more help on the 7a engine.

    Any help is appreciated
    Many thanks Alistair

had this sort of problem with a rs2 couple off years back, had fuel at the rail and could not find why the plugs were dry. all 5 injectors were stuck..

Thank you for that, I'll give them a tap and see if they are free, I've had them for about a year and haven't used them and don't know how long ago they was used before I got them.
      Many thanks

Whilst I've not had this problem on my 7A, I would say.....
If pressure is good at the fuel rail, you'll need battery voltage to the injectors......check with ignition on and whilst cranking......it'll drop a bit when cranking but if the battery is good expect 10v at least.
The other wire to injectors is a switched earth via ECU.....can be checked with a noid light, multimeter(set on dwell) or LED test light.
Or maybe as above the injectors are stuck?.......could be an easy fix!

Very pleased to hear of someone taking the time and effort to fix one of these engines up, they are getting very rare nowadays!

This is the only picture I have of the engine when I had just got it bolted up to the gearbox. I toyed with the idea of dropping in an s2 lump but I wanted to keep it original, finding obscure parts has been a nightmare!

What obscure parts were you after?

Cheers mate, it's been a Labour of love!
Just odds and sods really, like the steel heater pipe that runs down the side of the engine from the thermostat housing, I found one in Germany and got it shipped. All the hoses on it was shot aswell and found it hard to find some so went to Roose motorsport as they're only 5 minutes from my house and spoke to them and they matched up most of the hoses to the set they make for the 3b s2 and tweeted to tooling for me. The top hose tooling they used for me was from a Morgan that matched almost perfect!

Its really bad that that's all the best photos I've got after owning the car 2 years and she's been off the read nearly all off it, she's had the brakes and driveline rebuilt in the first 4 months then as I was bedding the brakes in the front pulley came loose due to when last Cambelt had done when the previous owner had it and wasn't torqued properly I suspect and it's been off the road since, I haven't even had a tank of petrol through her since owning it
