I run stock cams but will be changing to 7A when the engine gets a rebuild, and 1.5bar. It started to happen after i replaced the original hoses with samco ones???
If you catch the trottel you can keep it going but it really wants to drop off and die.
I did find a kink in the fuel line And i sorted that but have not driven the car since

I think TBH, the problem could be somewhere else When i had Ross' old car, that was running 7A exhaust cam, samcos, S3 DV,cone filter @ 1.5bar no probs.

When Ross had his engine rebuilt and fitted his big turbo and manifold etc he began to get the same problem. I can see how this could be with the excess boost pressure been dumped at high boost but @1.2 bar?? I'd maybe change/swap the MAF for a try.

I'll go have a proper think about this.

        a thought

Could the 3" exhaust cause the problem , due to back pressure or the lack of it... causing the turbo to act like a scavenge pump and possible exasperated by the cams? removing the dump valve should confirm this as with it missing the turbo should almost be stalled...

Hmmm not sure, my car had a 3" system on it but only stock D/P. Not sure that would cause the problem, the turbo will try stall with the DV blocked off, but no reason for that to effect it with it connected as the pressure will help keep the turbo spinning on lift off along with a bit more gasses from the 7A cam.

I'm not helping here am i If only i had the car here Keep the idea's coming tho. I'm gonna break out the soon

            Cheers,
Brand new MAF has been fitted already as the old one was causing an over boost issue.
Too late to crack anything else open as we have just returned from Sunday lunch and it has been fueled by a couple of bottles of France's finest and then some of Ireland's finest

I was thinking (over my raspberry and chocolate cheesecake) that the 7A cam could (due to the slight overlap) be causing an issue but then surely that would cause a similar issue in an RS2 running more boost and a larger exhaust and lighter flywheel.
Again the larger exhaust may be an issue due to the lack of back pressure but I have used this same system on other S2's with no ill effects.
I have done simliar spec S2's as this one and never had this issue. It is the first time I have seen this stall issue.
Or it could just be related to the fact that the flux capacitor isn't being fully charged and is causing the trouble with tribbles?

Corey, if you wanted to test it out my engine on and ABY ignition I have an Avant that you could dump it in and wire up, pop up tomorrow yeah?

This is a pain in the butt, symptoms sound exactly like mine. Odd thing is, after the rebuild, running a full 3" exhaust, 7A ex. cam, stock flywheel, K24 @ 1.5bar it was fine. It wasn't until I bolted in the GT3071 that the problem suddenly started occurring. It was as stated, like the idle control just wan't coming in on time. Mihnea tried loads of stuff with the map but nothing would help, effect was always the same.

How would the backpressure affect this? It's one thing I did think off, as it was noted that the garrett hotside had minimal backpressure. When adding the turbo it was still running 1.5bar on the old map and the problem was still there. I think moving the MAF pressure side would have been the next step.

The only other change was that the breather system was venting to atmosphere - I did plumb that back in, at the same time as replacing the battery & cleaning the ignition, and the issue didn't occur again - but then it only covered about 10 miles before the incident

                    hmmm

                    stock PCV/flametrap (all new)
                    new battery

I don't think it's back pressure as this is on a k24 remember running less boost.

Ignition??? We tested the system and all the leads where fine but I didn't check what was happening with them above the rpm range we where having the issue with.
Are all the cars concerned that are having this issue 3B's?
Anyone with an ABY having this phenomenon?

Is the one way valve in the PCV system working ok? the little one down below the ISV?

There's been a couple of references to voltage, James' battery light coming on, Ross replaced his battery, any connection here I wonder?

Very frustrating day today, spent most of it swapping out various ecu's etc, rechecking for boost leaks, removing the DV (blanking the hoses) rechecking the throttle body.
Even putting a bone stock ecu in made no difference, so I can safely say that it isn't software related but to sum up what we found...
