Mark - I have the 7A exhaust cam in my car with the aby pulley - it ran ok (apart from my other problems) - I thought the only difference between aby and 3B pulleys was the position sensor ring

      Doug,
they might be the same, but I need to look and see if the woodruff key position is in the same position in relation to the timing mark on the 7A/3B pulleys, I looked on the online ETKA site and it gives different part numbers for the ABY and ADU which has me confused even more, cos you'd think that they were the same.
Do me a favour Doug, can you look on your more upto date ETKA and tell me if the ABY and ADU pulleys still have different part numbers on yours, if they have, the difference is probably the cam timing  .
I am using both 7A cams in the new engine and I want the timing to be right as in the 7A spec, so I need to be sure.
Can you let me know those part numbers?

      Cheers,

      Mark.

        RS2: 034 109 105 B
        7A, NB, 3B: 034 109 111
        ABY: 034 109 105

I can't remember what the parts guru/daddy/grandad said the B on the end meant?

What is the second mark on the back of the ABY pulley for?
          (marked WTF)

I can't find a protractor to measure angles - time to use SOH CAH TOA -

Mmmm thats what I got, makes me think that maybe the timing is different between the ABY and ADU cam pulleys and if it is its probably different to the 7A/3B pulley and the only difference is not just the Hall sensor trigger ring.

You can see why I have doubts, I dont know if it would make much difference to you just using the exhaust cam, but it might if I use both 7A cams with the 'wrong' pulley. I need to borrow Toms spare 7A pulley and compare it to an ADU or ABY one.

            Oh well,

Sal has an ADU pulley - ask him to take a pic to compare - maybe the B means "charge twice as much"

I've compared both pulleys ADU and ABY and the woodruffs are in exactly the same position and so are the notches which line up with the cam cover.

                  Is the RS2 pulley plastic?

I'm sure someone said there was a plastic pulley on some car

Maybe the later RS2s had a plastic one - I can't remember where I heard this

                          Cheers Martin,

OK, just got in, its late now, but to me the TDC on Martins 7A pic looks like its in a different place to the ABY pic that Doug posted, i.e. to the left of the woodruff, almost or exactly where Doug has marked WTF in his pic of the ABY pulley.

                          Am I right?

                          Mark.

Also it has a different P# from the one listed (034 109 111), my head definately hurts now , Sal do ADU and ABY pulleys both have two timing marks like the ABY one that Doug has posted a pic of?

Martin has taken a picture from the opposite side (the front)

strange thing is that when I overlay my pulley on to the screen and line up the woodruff key, the TDC mark is 3 teeth out

                              Doug,

If that is the case, then that would mean that the timing is different with the different pulleys?

Stuff this.....if I cant find out for sure, I'll have to use one of these and adjust it up against the 7A pulley and fit a Hall trigger ring from an ABY/ADU pulley somehow. I could do without the extra expense, but at least I'll know the 7A cams will be timed up properly.
