Also discovered there are 2 different types of tappets.
They both are the same size etc but the holes where the oil comes out of are in different places.
To drain the type from my s2 head, the inner part has to be lifted, on the other type the centre has to be squeezed.Has anyone else come across this?

As Paul said both keys have sheared off
That is one ***** design, looks like the cambelt is'nt the only weak link between the valves hitting the pistons. The strange thing is ETKA shows a seperate woodruff key (no.4 in the diagram), .

That woodruff key could be a throwback to another car that uses the same diagram. Strange that it is listed with a part number though. It's also shown on the ADU diagram. Although they probably used the whole diagram and parts list from 3B/ABY/NM/7A and changed the part numbers.

Do all the pulley have a built in key? New ones clearly do but I wonder if maybe a very early pulley had a cut out for a separate key.

They could have changed the design of the pulley, but left the details on the diagram. I have seen this happen on ETKA a couple of times.

My S2, Sal's S2 and the RS2 all look to be the same offset - about 35 degrees

My woodruff looks as if it has been welded in and filed.

Just to add to the previous discussion about shearing woodruff keys, I got my Piper pulley today. It uses a hardened steel pin in place of a key, this should solve the problem nicely, I cant see this breaking to easily.

It fits perfectly and was easy to adjust up to match the timing on the 7A cam pulley that I borrowed from Tom (I'm using 7a cams), just need to add a timing mark to it. Its also fairly well dished on its inner face so that I will be able to fit a Hall sensor trigger ring from the OEM ABY/ADU pulley without too much trouble hopefully.

The only significant difference with the OEM pulley is its
width, as its slightly thicker, this may rub on the inside of the belt guard.....have to wait and see.

That is just an excuse, to not fit the belt cover, and to show off your cam pulley

Does the round pin fit it the squared slot of the cam?

LOL, I knew that either you, Tom, Sal, or Steve would say that after the conversation we had last Sunday .

Yep, the pin fits perfectly with no 'slop', in fact much more precisely than Toms 7A pulley with its cast in key, which has a lot of play in it.

I have an aby pulley that I took off - I bought a new one just to be safe - I was going to chuck it in the bin if you want one to play with?

Remember what we discussed with reference to the cambelt cover? I personally would run with a cover on the car. All it needs is for something to flick up off the road into that belt housing and its game over. Head off and remove bent valves!!

You are right about the stone thing though, I will have to do something, thats assuming that the standard guard doesnt fit over it.
