  • The Definitive S2 Spark Plug Thread

There has been lots and lots written about the correct Spark Plug for the S2 engine.

Mainly the discussions are regarding the correct type and the tightening torque required.

The correct part number is: Bosch F5DP0R

There IS NO BETTER spark plug than the F5DP0R for a stock S2 engine, and even up to 400 BHP.

    HTH,

    Mihnea
The correct tightening torque is 30Nm as per the attached. It has been documented many many many times that you should check your plugs regularly with the suggested wisdom being at least every oil change or every six months.

I'd better check my plugs are tight again at the weekend after fitting them last week too

      Check those plugs!

I did mine the other day and was quite surprised
One thing I'd like to add is make sure the spark plug socket is very secure, it can take some time trying to get it out of the hole.

I also found it easier to remove the cover with the throttle damper removed.

      Good one Steve

        What's a throttle damper

I always use a dab of copper grease on the threads but be careful if you do as you can over-torque. Also, even if you're a dab hand with the spanners, be careful with torque wrenches and if it doesn't feel right or you feel it start to yield then I guess you're a bit off!

What's the bit that is on a triangulated bracket that felt like a damper?
