For an out and out track car ditch the aux rad and fit a alloy main rad, like the one from Ron Davis.

              ditch it...

The worst that happens retaining just the stock main rad is that the fan kicks in more frequently during the summer months. Had mine out for year with no real downside. Temps are stable regardless of road or track.

If the cooling system is in good health then no reason to worry and having ability to run the fan (hardwire as per Rusty) or retain the a/c if you want to keep it on the car (never been convinced there is that much weight to recover - say 15kgs for pump and pipes plus evap)

Totally agree if you live somewhere with a proper summer but elsewhere you'll be fine

Another vote for Water Wetter. Used it a few years ago and car ran a few degrees cooler which was a boon considering the car spent hours queuing in and out of two grand prix's in europe. Actually descaled the coolant circuit nicely too so would use it for a few months, then drain and flush and then refill!

If I remember correctly, Redline recommends against using Water Wetter with G12/ G12+

I'm watching this thread quite closely also as I removed my Aux Rad a month or so ago after it sprang a leak.

So far it has been fine without it although I have noticed in London traffic that the water temp is getting a quite a bit higher (100ish) than it used to and that's in autumn.

So thinking that for the summer in London traffic I may have to invest in a new one, or maybe not?!

Look at my thing for wiring a switch to the fan, keeps things a little cooler than not having it. Looking at ally rads with trackslag and also new, more efficient fans.

I've ran mine for nearly 2.5yrs now without the aux rad, it sprang a leak in autumn so left it til spring. After reading up on its pros & cons decided to try it over summer without and its been fine, even on the hottest days.

It's sat in hours worth of slow moving traffic mid-summer and never goes past 92C, and even after spirited blasts it sits at 90. The addition of silicone hoses (Roose) also helped a little further, better flow maybe?

This is on a Nothelle spec car too with extras, so though not highly tuned its up on standard power figures.

I read (but never verified) that 'out of nominal' oil temps can be harmful. Something like (but maybe not exactly) cold oil has a tendency to suck or condense water, so oil passages may begin to corrode or restrict flow from sludge; plus water does not help for lubrication. - Oil temps that were too high became semi corrosive and could harm lubricated surfaces over time.
