    You are very wrong here...
    RS2 turbo rebuild:
    400 EUR?
    GT3071 setup:
    GT3071/K26 034 kit - 1300 EUR + VAT + Shipping (1500 EUR+)
    Injectors - 200+ EUR
Mapping - 300+ EUR and with that turbo you will start to break your MAF.

So we have what, 2000 EUR vs 400 EUR?
Did you even consider the prices before making your statement?

Sorry to hijack here, but it is on topic...

My engine is back out after similar knocking, the number 1 shells were totally fuched, nothing left. I have no idea why, oil pressure was good, shells were in correctly, rods round the right way etc, anyway, what are peoples feelings on the following options

grind the crank and use undersize shells
spray the crank and standard shells
1 new rod from aron or complete set (they have done 200 miles )

Bear in mind I am heading for 500+ HP

      Cheers.

Avantus didn't say if they will rebuilt old turbo or buy new one. chipper option is to rebuilt old turbo, but if they will buy new one , than is better option to spend the money on some "new generation" turbo, injectors, fuel pump, remap and they can easy get 420+hp...

new rs2 turbo cost around 1300 euro, so if he spend 800 euro more, they can have 100hp more than stock rs2

          Wrong.
          939 EUR
          945 EUR
          939 EUR

Also, if a turbo smokes slightly and is otherwise OK, there is no reason to buy new one.

Engine will be out and taken apart by tomorrow evening. Just the gearboxclock needed, all the rest pretty much done. Taking the radiators out was a nice finishing job this evening
Top tip for that one difficult turbo/exhaust bolt is just to take off the wastegate... so much easier!

Did it all myself so far, and there really have been amateurs at work.

clamp on bottom hose from secondary radiator was completely loose.
clamp on watergallery for engine the same
aircon pipe only attached with one fixing point

If you forget those clamps they would jump off after half a mile, but here they were still on and not leaking .... only those guys have that kind of luck

really poor work I'm afraid, and things are gonna get done properly this time.
Made a phonecall to the company to confirm my emails and after 1.5 week they simply said they'll respond tomorrow. Didn't even get a sorry to start with.

But I still hope they come up with some selfrespect and a nice offer, and that way I'll keep their name out of the internet. Fair thing imo.

btw: turbo is still perfect according to my mechanic. No play to be felt, and the little short cloud of blue smoke might be due to the CV he says.
