Have the turbo inspected for eventual hits of piston, valve debrees.

Let the injectors and FPR checked out also (maybe you detonated because of a clogged injector).

Billman, thanks for your advise, I will get the items you mentioned checked out.
It is interesting what you say about the injectors, they are fairly new green RS2 and
        they have done about 2000mls.

It is just a thought.....you never know! The injectors have done 2000miles....the fuel filter?

You can check the injectors pretty easily by pulling the rail out and running the onboard diagnostics. They spray in firing order. It's not quantitative unless you rig up a 1348/2 or similar, but it's pretty easy to spot an underperforming injector while still on the car.

look at these pictures of a recent engine blow in Spain. the engine comes from a Audi RS2,original,without boost too much.

the guy said that that made WOT in 6th gear from to 120km/h to 160km/k and then "BUMPPP"

Agree absolutely, but it's much more expensive and time-consuming. The diagnostic trick WILL spot a completely dead injector, costs almost nothing to do and takes minutes.

It's all too easy to start swapping bits in the hope of randomly hitting the defective component.

I flow test them before fitting them on the new engine. Costed 50 euros.

Even if an injector is not completely shot an simply delivers 5% less fuel then it can cause a lean condition.

Erm - if they're not on the engine then you don't have to factor in the cost of removing and refitting them, do you? Completely different situation - I'm talking about a quick check with them still on the car.

5% is within manufacturing tolerance and - unless someone's done something really wild with the ECU - will easily be accomodated by ECU knock control.

                            I removed, installed them myself, it is a 30' job.....just it's up to you/him.

I wish that this knock control is as good as we believe....but many engines got destroyed and will....

When you take away the ability of the knock control to react to the knock, this is usually what happens.

i know of NO sane tuner that deliberately does that on an ECU that can control knock. Those who do, should be avoided!
