New Poly Engine Mounts

As you can see from one of the photos, the poly is a PITA to machine, you have to freeze it solid before machining, even putting a chamfer in the bore was a pita coz the poly had gone back to room temp!!
Been thinking about making my own poly and using my own moulds, to keep costs down, if these become a regular job

With good help form Acidburn and Quattronutter finally managed to get the mounts changed over the poly versions.
1st impressions
1) At idle blipping the throttle no engine movement can be seen to the eye, with the OEM aircon engine mounts which were actually in A1 condition when remooved from the car, blipping the throttle showed significant engine movement
2) The car feels more "solid" like everything is more connected, the gearbox lever also does not move
3) No marked increase in vibration through the steering wheel or car body
4) There is an increase in noise into the cabin, this is to be expected however with more solid mounts
5) I need to bed them in and also see if I need to tweak the height adjustment. I installed them without drop down on the engine as a test. Using copper slip on the previously contact points there was no contact that could be seen.
So far so goodComment

Casting poly is a H&S nightmare Kev, Isocyanates are pretty unpleasant.
You're better off making the mould and getting a specialist to cast it, I know of a firm in Birmingham who might be able to help.Panthero Coupé quattro 20vt

Jamo has tested these and seems happy with them, he has stated that the poly has bulged out slightly, but this will be due to the weight of the engine, and the poly when compressed can only go 1 way, outwards(bit like me after xmas)
I Have a batch going thro right now, but all of these have been promised to members who have contacted me in the last week or so
So will start another batch for stock/sales
Cheers
