pump could still be on its way out. mine did this a few times before it eventually went for good. had it in and out about five times after breaking down.
Hi, I think it was bad terminals it was literally out of car cleaned with a cloth back in and she fired up!
I will check the lambda soon as I got home.. I was looking at getting a new fuel pump in it now anyway, quick search on google brings prices of £80-90 mark will give Gsf/euro/tps a go, was quite suprised with Gsf they don't really stock many parts for s2 he kept on telling me dealer only for things Like cps and lambda & knowing my luck il breakdown somewhere garrison with lapsed RAC cover!
might just be a dodgy connection as you say, just be careful. thats exactly how mine was and i thought i'd solved it just like you.
when its in place the pump has to overcome resistance from the fluid so when its getting worn/tired it can't quite get started. when you take it out fluid drains and it kind of frees itself off. when it goes back in it fires up no problem.
if you put a live and earth across it when out it worked no problem with zero resistance.
mine broke down about 5 times over the space of a few weeks and every time i took the pump out and "fixed" it.
worst case scenario for the car new fuel pump, not the end of the world.
worse for you if you go on a long journey before you build up confidence its really fixed and you break down.
when mine went for the final time it was a recovery truck job.
just proceed with a bit of caution and get a few miles and start ups under your belt!!

Yep definitely drive it around local for a while..
Lambda seems to have sorted itself out, must have been shorting via fuel pump.. Only other problem I'm having Is the fans are running constantly.. Any ideas guys? Thanks..
I had a feeling it was the fuel pump Buy a new fuel pump and keep it in the car, it will almost certainly fail again.
Take the aux rad out and plug the pipes, its in parallel with the main rad so joining the pipes effectively bypasses the main rad, not so good. Many cars on here with big HP run without the aux rad although if you drive in traffic a lot it might help to keep it..
Rad fan is switched on by the "otter" switch (lives underwater) at the bottom of the rad, if you pull the plug off this and it stops then you need a new one. If it still runs then the relay is stuck or you have a short in the wiring.
Look at that, if I pull the relay off it stops so I'm hoping it's One of the two.. Will try relay first being the easiest to get to.. That said the whole fronts off so will check the otter switch too.. I'm thinking while I'm at it might aswell change all the cambelt/aux belts/water pump/timing belt roller while I'm at it.. Come in at £105.00 eurocarparts
