I was looking into replacing the coilpacks on my ABY and there seem to be 3 options there - Apikol @ $400, 034 @ $650 and VAG at £600... be interested to know the difference between the first 2 options.Cheers'en, AndyC

I would like to point out that this is not quite correct.
If you do not want to remap, you also need to change the fuel rail and injectors for AAN/ABY ones.
The 3B injectors have different latency characteristics and the fuel mixture will be too rich if the voltage compensation is not adjusted, thus giving worse fuel economy than it should.Comment

A: You have quoted selectively. I did say he would need a remap.I would like to point out that this is not quite correct.

B: It was a joke! John's car is heavily modified. So no way would he be satisfied with a stock ecu.
C: If I wanted to be pedantic I could say that you would not need to change the fuel rail on a 3B, only that a ABY equivelent FPR would be needed to match the ABY injectors assuming that you were satisfied with the stock ABY power or a remap up to the limits of the injectors.
However, the point of matching the components is valid if someone with a stock 3B is upgrading to coil packs. Perhaps its worthwhile someone making a thread with the pros and cons of the conversion.Comment

Not sure a 4 bar regulator is available in said form factor.C: If I wanted to be pedantic I could say that you would not need to change the fuel rail on a 3B, only that a ABY equivelent FPR would be needed to match the ABY injectors assuming that you were satisfied with the stock ABY power or a remap up to the limits of the injectors.
AAN injectors flow 280cc at 3 bar, 323cc at 4 bar.
3B injectors flow 323cc at 3 bar.
The common misconception comes from the fact, that the flow rating is the only important injector characteristic, when at low IPW's latency is much more important to get right for correct fuelling.Comment

you should have to install a 7A Engine FPR....but i think it is NLA
and i am not sure but if i remember correctly it works with 4.2Bar,not 4RED Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI TME nº 16 of 250

Comments on coil options
Did you include the cost of new POSs in the "VAG at £600" estimate?
In addition to the Apikol 1.8t coilpack and 034 "HO" coil options, EFI express also offers a 2.0L tfsi coil pack option at $350 and an LS2 coil option at $425.

All of these options eliminate the separate factory POSs and coils, replacing them, plug and play with coilpacks that have built-in POSs. The ones based on 1.8t or 2.0L tfsi coil packs are more prone to failure from heat, either external or internal (internal due to dwell times). These coil packs will not likely last 150K+ like the OE coils did. However, they are only about $18 each to replace. Good on lightly modded engines but not necessarily good at RS2 levels and above (I run them on my RS2'd AAN and have replaced 3 over a 5 yr period). Running any form of cover is not recommended. Tracking events can hasten the demise of these coils (due to heat).
The 034 HO and EFI Express LS2 coil pack kits have the coils mounted on the strut tower bar and spark plug wires going from the coils to the sparkplugs. In theory (and practise for the most part), they are more robust and can handle both tracking and hp levels above RS2+ levels better than the 1.8t and 2.0 tfsi options. Some people don't like the plug wire look. Here is a photo of an AAN equipped with a 7A cam cover and a set of 034 HO coils (looks good to me):
