How does this happen? (valves)

Another thing i thought was sticking of the valve, but it was free moving when removed and the stem is clean as per pics.
Why it bent them i know - belt was 4 teeth out (previous owner)
But i must say, some mention keyways on cam/crank - this wouldnt allow it to bend one valve in a chamber as the cam is a solid chunk and even if its independent from the crank it will still open 2 inlet valves in 1 chamber together.Comment

So you do not know why they bent? When taken head off from the car cecked timing?OH MY GOD - PLEASE DONT GET NASTY, everyone has an opinion and on a forum they are all welcome.
A weird one i know and i expect all sorts of theorys.
I realy think the lifters could be part of this- the car had only been running 3 mins since sitting for years, but they had gone quiet (a detail i missed sorry)Comment

As i said before:Valves perpendicular on piston usualy get unharmed but can damage follower. On 1.9 tdi valves closed 100% after breaking belt and putting other for testing compresion. But upper part of some followers was cracked.Comment

Ok, but "valves hit piston, all good, due to timing being 4 teeth out" would have saved a page and 15 minutes of our collective lives, not to mention the emotional flak

I got it from the begining that he knows what caused that.
And forgot to mention: put all valves including ones that seem straight in a precision turning device(NOT lathe chuck)or drill mandrel and i guess you will have less followers to thank to
LOL you have seen too that i got the things.
This evoluated so funny LOLComment

That can make you change all valves because not beying able to center them good.Or beying forgiving at to many valves thinking it is valve in chuck that is not centered.
I use a small lathe with a part 7mm inside and a cone outside that get in lathe axle. How do you call that?Comment
