Umm...the RS2 water pump pulley is actually smaller (26 teeth vs 29 teeth).

Yes, this is why the timing mark on the pulley ends up to the left of the V mark on
      the cam cover.
Given that the top and bottom pulleys are the same as the ABY/AAN,
apart from the shutter wheel, it can't be any other way if you think about it.

The only other way it can be is the other side of the mark, this then causes the
low boost and error code, it will not line up in the middle like an ABY/AAN.

Hello, guys. Some updates on my problem.

I got the timming right (so it seems for the hall sender mechanical failure ceased to exist in vag). Everything aligned and cam sporcket at half a tooth to the left, just lke the photos. This seems to be solved. Car now cranks and runs ok.
However, I was having a failure on engine speed sensor (black). Bought another sensor, replaced it with this new unit and I´m still getting the same engine speed sensor failure on VAG. I just put a new 034 motorsport lightweight flywheel and no adaptations were supposed to be necessary. Any thoughts or similar problems you may have experienced are very welcome.

          Best regards

You will get a fault for the engine speed sensor whenever the engine is not running.

Yup. I wonder how many engine speed sensors get purchased and installed because of this false positive VAG tool DTC result. Many I would suspect.

More reading on this for Nilo by clicking on the link below and then on the G4 and G28 label in the upper right (all the labels are live links to more info about the label topic):

Helo, guys, thanks for your input. Indeed, it seems I bought another sensor with no need. Cars runs perfectly, now! Thank you very much!

hi, i was reading the treads of the forum and i'm so confused now .
i just finished to change my rs2 cam belt, and water pump. i've done it with the proper cam belt but a 29 tooth water pump. the car is runing all right .
i've the half tooth misalignement like it was with the old cam belt.
ive no B mark on the cam sproket and unfortunatly the wrong water pump , that i have since i bought the car 18 years ago .
the reading of all these informations concerning B marked sprokets , 26 tooth WP confuse me a lot .... my old water pump was 26 tooth but i've not noticed the difference when i've mounted it .
some more newer info on these stufs ?

The water pump shouldn't make any difference to timing. As long as the camshaft mark is set (as you say above, one tooth to left) using the mark on the flywheel looking via the bell housing you are good. The water pump pulley will only change the speed the pump spins at. Just about to do this myself.

cam pulley is specific on these cars.
