Right, I've just ordered one of the 034 133 471 K's from the link I posted above, will report back when it arrives, should be here on Friday apparently.

If you add it to your basket then not bother go through with the deal, wait an hour and they'll send you a 5% discount code to encourage you to go through with your purchase. So it worked out at £212.26 delivered,

At the end of the day I have 14 day's to send it back for a refund, so as long as it looks genuine and works properly I'll be happy.

Not sure. There was some chat about the Corrado VR6 MAF and I think the 944 Turbo one is similar too. Probably all set up differently though and I am not sure if anyone has tested them.

vems was never a bad option. just theres more followers than do'ers. not everybody has the knowledge or want to do it. some enjoy messing some enjoy driving.

I got a maf somewhere if ones needed. not used in 7 years. let me know if its worth finding

Oh okey, just asking, because never tried out tuning or read about/with mafs, isnt the maf involved in the air/fuel blend?
Maybe its not very nice to do practice testing by just mounting and hope it will work?

Is it hard to find used mafs?

                Cry me a river.

It's still far superior on a mass production scale.
I can't offer a Stage 1 SD tune, just because after tuning a few stock cars on SD, I realized that no matter how conservative I make it, it's still going to run wildly different on different cars with different exhausts and small mods.

Whereas, turn the MAF back on, and boom, timing and fuel bang on target.

So to have a mass marketable solution that does not require tuning it needs to be a MAF based solution. basic SD is too car specific and requires a re-tune for every tiny little thing, which is out of the question.
That's why Audi and Bosch went with mass-flow in the first place. Speed-density has been available just as long, just not used by OEM's much until much later, when the computing power has become available to model and measure every tiny bit of the engine, such as valve overlap, exhaust back pressure, plenum design and so on, only then is a SD system good enough to pass modern emissions, as evidenced by the V10 RS6 and the TT-RS. And I don't mean passing sniffer tests at MOT, real EURO 4, EURO 5 and EURO 6 tests.

Is 0 986 280 137 an alternative Bosch part number? Looks to be for an RR.

Yes John, in fact it's sat safe in it's box on the shelf but I ran it for a tank of fuel and it gave identical AFR readings to my RS2 MAF throughout the warm up cycle and on WOT etc. Also for total security I've just purchased a brand spanking new unit from Audi Tradition before they sell out of them and the recon one has a couple of manufacturing marks that are identical so I'm confident their genuine Bosch. Again the new one from Tradition gives exactly the same AFR readings and performance as my other two.

I figured I may as well keep using the old RS2 one till it gives up the ghost then I'll swap it's screens onto one of my spares for all the good that may or may not do.

If you need a new one in a hurry I'd be prepared to sell my reconditioned one, they take about a week to arrive from the seller in Germany.
