    Changing to gt3071r

Hi, currently I'm running an rs2 spec S2 avant with stock internals. Now I'm thinking to change the rs2 turbo for a garrett gt3071r. My question, is it worth?
What else do I need to do? Custom oil and water lines and a good remap (max boost of 1.7 bar)?
The turbo 0.63AR with k24/26 flange for a wagner rs2 evo exhaust manifold? Do I need to rebuilt my 3inch dp and is there room for the oem airbox?

Run the larger .82 A/R or it will surge meaning you can;t make the most of the quick spooling. Have a search on the forum, its a well documented problem on the I5

Or take the RS2 turbo and overhaul and upgrade it with a modern compressorside for 2,5 bar and about 400-420 ps without any changes necessary in oil and water lines, exhaust or something else.

No it's not worth it IMO, you'll gain bhp but lost torque. If it stock to 3071 go for it

What exactly- the 0.82 or the upgraded RS2? :-)

3071, I'd do what you said overhaul his RS2 spec, depends wha he wants. RS2 spec may not have headline figures but it's a super driveable setup.

I think he means it's not worth it to go from rs2 turbo to 3071 but it's worth it when you go from stock s2 turbo to 3071.
But if you map the 3071 at the same boost level as the rs2 turbo in the low mid range, isn't the torque the same then? Or doesn't reach the 3071 this boost level at those rpm's?

Or is the 2871 the better option? Similar to an upgraded RS2 turbo maybe?
I like the relative fast spoolup of the RS2 turbo, but I'm missing a litle punch in the higher revs. So I'm looking for the turbo close to the RS2 but with that little extra in the high revs.

As far as I know, the 2871 is very similar to the RS2 charger, so that won't make sense.
Upgraded RS2 could be done on 2 ways:

Combined with the "2871 O"-wheel you get a charger that can do nearly 400 HP and 600 NM with 2,3-2,5 bar. AFAIK you can use the stock housing, so upgrade is easy and cheap.
Combined with the "2877 X" wheel, you get a charger that can do more than 400 hp- around 420, with 600NM. Here youn need another ccompressor housing AFAIK.

Both wheels are from KKK genuine parts, the "O" series is especially for higher pressures, the "X"-series is for more airflow, so the 2871 O can do more boost and will spool a bit earlier, the 2877 X is for more hp in upper RPM. Please don't mix up with the garret 2871 :-)

I think with the 2871 O version spool should be as early as stock RS2.

I upgraded K24 to 2871 ar.63.I believe you will be pleased with the spool up but
as we know 2871 is having a surged problem.I would go something bigger than 2871 for
the nicer top end.if you're already have rs2's get something bigger than 2871/3071 just my
2C.2871 is drivable in town but i still need a big punch on top end.

Mine is a lot quicker with 3071. Much prefer it to stock RS2.
Air box still fits just and I modded the stock oil and water lines.
                        Do it!!

                          good choice on a 3076

Garretts make the car very linear in feel, there is no doubting they are quick pixaudisex2 3071 setup and Ross's shocked me how quick they were but they lacked grunt i.e they don't give you a big thump low down. Granted a lot of the feel is down to the mapping of the turbo.

I just think a rs2 to 3071 is a waste of money it's very like for like or in the same bracket re size.

                            I agree with Jamo.

My setup is probably very comparable with a tuned 3071r but without the hassle of changing all the lines, airbox etc.

If you want an RS2 upgrade you could stick with the k26 and get a 26/27 hybrid like my kx500 and still be comparable to a 3071 setup just by bolting on a turbo/injectors.

I wouldn´t change to a K26. Can´t really do more power than RS2 stock hotside, but is more laggy. Only change Comp side makes more sense to me- why buy and fit 2 parts, when changing 1 part gives better results?
