You should measure coil resistance if you have a multimeter - looking for 1 ohm +/- 0.5 ohm from memory. That is a fairly basic test but will spot a coil gone bad in such a fundamental way. If the primary coil is broken you will never get spark.

I am going to write up something to help folk on this area. Most people cannot consume the complexity going on here.

Cheers for the input guys, Dave is there a wiring diagram for the coils ? Just want to double check every wire goes to where it belongs.

Just plumbed in 2 different coils on 4 and 5 and am going backwards, starting to blow engine fuses now and only running on 2!

The OE coils need three wires: black, yellow/tan and brown

Black = the trigger signal from the POS channel in question

Yellow/tan = the 12V power input from the white plugs at the fire wall

Brown = Ground/earth - might not be on the coil itself because the coils bolt to the 20V Turbo cover without any insulation and there is a thick brown wire attached to the 20V Turbo cover that is then attached to the right rear corner of the cam cover.

Coils fail due to age but I don't think that you can kill one by hooking it up incorrectly. Thicker wire would not cause any issues (IMO).

More likely that your wiring connections have issues. (Or the coils were dead to begin with).

Ideal , how could it be possible to blow a fuse ? Incorrectly wired ? Forget the number but it's the last in the fuse box next to the motor fuses

Looks like it is S32 (from Pg. 7 of this pdf: http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/B/B73.PDF)

This should be the yellow 20 Amp in the front corner (right front of the photo).

A short to ground from the coil 12v will blow a fuse.

It is fuse 32 and it protects all coils - if you have 12V on the White plugs then the fuse is ok.

Stop messing. Get a conversion kit or 100% rewire it. My wiring ruined a £130 track day so never worth it.

I'll measure mine up at some point and post it up.

It is worth running a new earth from pin 2 of the 4-pin plug on the POS connector. That will workaround the possibility of a damaged internal connection on the loom.
