Where would I measure that at?

I presume you have a good solid ground for the coil harness and the ground wires to the bolt on the IM are all good and clean?

You'd think so, unless the voltage to the coils is low for some reason.
See what the WB says, it think if it's a misfire it will show lean.

The difference I see between WOT at 3k and 4k5 is that at 3k you have full spool but only 3000 rpm to use the pressure. At 4k5 the motor can swallow 1.5 times the amount of fuel and air, in a way it's having an easier time dealing with the boost.
So what's happening that's sending the motor "out of tune" at 3k.
3k to 4k should be the most exciting rpms on a stock turbo, it's where you get the big push, or even 2k5 -3k5?
It's a long time since I drove a standard car.
That's right on the nail Bud. When it's right I love short shifting and using the mid range torque and I just don't have any!!!
It's like poor spark but with the Red COP conversion surely that's ruled out?

Brian or Danny both know what these cars should go like. It's a bit far for me to come from Surrey.

Now the stock ECU has been on for a while I'm going to rig the wideband back up today and see what it's saying!

The boost is the same regardless of how it runs, it seems to have no bearing on its fault.

Yeh the WG spring is standard.

I do appreciate all the help, it really is the weirdest fault. If you were to drive it over 4,500 you'd never know the car had a fault. It seems to be related to the peak torque area!!!

Who would you suggest I ask to drive it for an opinion?

What's the wideband showing when it holds back? In comparison to when it pulls properly?

Is there a difference in boost?

Is the WG spring a stock item?

No mate. Nor has Danny from DNA. Both aren't far from me! I'm always worried of getting the response I've had before "it's not that bad" when I know full well it's definitely off the boil.

Yes mate. Even checked it today while I was running my fuel pump for the flow test.
