I am struggling to see how/where unmetered air could be drawn in without it leaking out under boost! Even something like the injector seats. Would have to be after the maf and not shown up by pressure testing.
I was going to suggest the turbo housing O ring on the compressor but cannot see how it would fit the symptoms!
Although it might have something to do with the high vac/full boost technique which you say allows the car to function correctly when you come off/on the throttle.

Yes and he is taking some logs for me tomorrow. So although they will be slightly different it should at least tell me if mine are somewhere near right.
If this checks out ok, I'm heading towards unmetered air being drawn in (although I'd struggle to see where since I pressure checked that hose to 1 bar AND drive the car with all the junctions to it plugged!)
OR
even with adequate pressure the injectors aren't being provided with what they need?Leave a comment:

Well we are back to having to eliminate the injectors! At least that something that can be physically verified. If they checkout thats effectively the whole of the fuel system eliminated.
How you can determine the function of the Maf other than the measley measuring block at idle I do not know. Besides which you have subsituted it before.
If we knew that the ecu was operating the injectors at the correct duty cycle for the usual required afr that would at least suggest that the ecu was seing the right airflow and point to the injectors. Unfortunately there is only one person that could perhaps help with that.Leave a comment:

Just checked continuity of all the pins possible on the ecu plug and found no faults.Leave a comment:

Ah I missed that what with all the knob measuring and stuff
Rich as this thread is now pretty long, can you summarise quickly what you have tested & replaced to date related to this issue?

Have any of you guys got vag com. Be interesting to see what your injector on time is to see if my car is TRYING and failing to run right or not trying if that makes sense?Leave a comment:

Hi. I had a cheap rubbish adjustable FPR from a car I broke last year. I used that simple to decide if it was a poor spark issue or actually running lean so I know which direction to head in tomorrow.
I ran it with my Pressure gauge attached and resting on the screen. Yes it was rising and falling just as it should. The FPR was new on Friday and the MAF is good and do also have s new one somewhere.
Tomorrow I'm going to check continuity on the MAF wiring.Leave a comment:

Try booking it in with Danny or Brian, maybe a fresh pair of eyes is needed?
Besides, after 10yrs you deserve a break, and a medal!Leave a comment:

I'm going to invent my own ackronym here: CTFOE
Chill The **** Out Everyone
(Dave feel free to use this in your reference library)
Now, back to Rich's problem.
Rich how did you modify the fuel pressure and how do you know its bang on, rising rate & all?
If you have time one day pop round I have a brand new MAF & FPR on my motor, you can try them in yours

You still don't get it. You've just reiterated my point with your post above.
No one is questioning your knowledge or readiness to post a "helpful" post, but it's your lack of patience with / attitude to others is what you need to work on, imho.
As you would say, read what I written and take it on board, or I'll throw my toys out of the pram.

Dear Gentle Reader....
I would love to discuss this further with someone who knows more about C4 UrSs than I do (after 18 years of continuous ownership, participation on 4 UrS forums and writing of over 200 detailed UrS info posts) >>*AND*<< who shows up to share their knowledge on a daily basis.
Until then, I wish HMS-S6 all the best. I will be curious what the final solution is.

Dave, Dave, Dave !!!
You need to leave your ego at the door.
This reaction that you have elicited is not the first time that people reacted adversely to your posts.
Your posts of the required information are great, but the way there are delivered sometimes is the problem.
Remember you are retired and have time on you hands to amuse yourself on the keyboard, for others it is a more critical predicament. A car that does't work and they haven't got too much time or an excess of money to throw at the problem.
I love the content of your posts, and am also amused at the on-line arguments that you have had on the various forums over the years.
Poison chalice springs to mind. But please do keep posting the replies on here as they are helpful, but you need to exercise more patience and less requirement for a pat on the back.
Giving stuff should not be given just to get thanks, or have people do as you want.
Not everyone is the same as you and do things the way you tell them to, and they never will be. You need to appreciate that point.
I don't want to hijack this thread, so if you want to respond, let's start another thread.
Kindest regards.
