That was a bad test technique. Without the inlet restriction of the airbox and filter, you eliminated the real world possibility of sucking the MAF to turbo (inlet) hose flat.

    Need a boost log.

Probably exhaust blocked (flexi inside out), restriction in intake or engine timed wrong.
Ahhhh right ok. I don't think I have the equipment for a boost log and I don't know anyone who would do one either. The entire exhaust is new and I'd the second one now trying to sort this. How could I check for the hose collapsing? I have run the car with the top off the Airbox and it ran the same too.
    How is the load calculated?
Is it possible that a new MAF would cure this??

We should have thrown a few 10er's into a hat. Winner (correct suggestion) takes all.

Your suggestion is definitely plausible and a potential winner.

This "Flexi" as in the corrugated metal boost dump tube?

If so, it is a one way installation. Arrow points in the direction of flow.

Proper orientation of the corrugated waste gate dump tube:

Didn't Error offer use of a new Maf to try. Would save another unecessary purchase.
So both of the Mafs produced valid readings in group 2 of the 10 measuring blocks at idle. Might be useful for someone else if we knew how the reading in group 2 relates to the AFR.
At idle both MAF sensors read 24 in the value so theoretically good, and the same. However, under wot the AFR went down (richer) by just over 1%. Which doesn't sound much but when it's from 15:1 to 13:8:1 it's quite a difference in performance so I'm thinking that a NEW one would bring it about right. After all, even 'low mileage' used ones are 20 years old now!

I always test all the small bore vacuum/boost lines individually. Pull the line off the inlet manifold, set your compressor to 1bar, get one of these on your air line and poke it into the line, pull the trigger and listen for leaks. You may need an assistant to check inside the car.

Maybe stick a new thread up, "has anyone bought a good MAF lately?"
