Well I thought that it would give fuel even if the cam sensor is bad?

So my DW300 kit I bought from EFI-express has a plug that goes on the pump and just wires in the other end.

Should I cut and solder the old audi plug that goes on the lid or see if I can desolder the wires from the old plug (the are properly crimp on)?

Just trying to be prepared for tomorrow since I wont have all the time in the world.

The final connection at the OE fuel pump is crimped on ring terminals. It looks like the DW300 has plug on top with long leads. I think that I would be temped to cut the OE wires off at an appropriate length and then use crimp butt connectors to connect the OE remaining green/yellow (power) and brown ground (earth) wires to the DW300 wires, making sure that it is power to power and earth to earth.

How about soldering? I don't fancy crimps to be honest.

I like soldering and heat shrink, but not sure how it likes to be soaked in gasoline

Has all the marks of an immo problem - especially if it started without immo key - seem to recall you have non immo chips in the ECU.

I know with immo cars if you have immo s/w in ECU and forget to tweak the checksum you get exactly that problem of engine starting perfect then dying after a second or two.

Ehm but there is no difference if I start it with or without immo key and yes I have standard non immo software. So you still think It could be the problem? I can send you the bin's that i used for the epproms.

However it does not start up anymore for 1-2 seconds it just cranks, so I don't think it is a immo problem. I think it is fuel pump problem, but I will know more tomorrow morning.

I ones had a bad ignition switch/lock that gave power to the coils in start position, but not in the 2nd position. When cranked engine just fired up, but when you let the key turn back engine died. The car was an old 2.2 typ44 though. My guess would still go to the fuel pump.

Ignition switch is brand new. So also think it is the fuel pump under the assumption that a bad cam sensor dont stop the fuel pump.

Oh I thought it was not starting with an immo key but was starting with a non immo key.

Check fuel supply while cranking and then you will know more.

Something like this (except in a different location, i.e. at the "208" fuel pump relay location - but only for checking the fuel pump, *NOT* starting the car)

So first test of the day.

There is power to the fuel pump but no fuel at the rail.

So onwards to change the pump, however I think I need a vacuum cleaner. Lots of crap on the fuel pump. Not like the coupe.
