    Coil Packs Misfire

Ive just been out and measured the conductance of the coil packs and it looks like no 4 might be the culprit of my misfire on boost.

four read between 5-6nS where as no 4 measured 20nS which seems to be the odd one out.

@Doug, any chance of trying one of your spares?

Yes - I will measure the ones I have, to compare to yours.

JPL has one as well - JPL???

JPL - Jet Propulsion Labs, NASA? Blimey, what are they doing with Audi coil packs

See, another reason why the 3B is superior, none of these coil pack jobbies going wrong all the time, good old fashioned engineering, none of this new-fangled stuff!

i reckon that all 3b owners should have a 3b badge on the front grille, that way, all us aby owners know what s2 is in our rear view mirror!!!!

yep best have it on the front grille so ABY'ers can see it disappear behind them - would be wasted on the back of the car

                  ready to be 'd

Sorry Doug, came in a bit late on this post, I'm nightshift!!

Yes, I've still got one of your spare coil packs but it is in use. I PM'd you a while ago to see how much I owed you, never got a reply. Please PM me with the cost and new address and I'll post you a cheque.

                    Cheers,

                    Graeme.

Must have missed that! I thought it was a damp ECU problem or did you have a failing coil as well?

The ECU did get soaked, 4" of water in the footwells saw to that. It's still not 100% after really frosty nights, takes a while for the rev counter to start working when first started. The coil pack was in addition to this, it never rains but it pours.

Thanks again for the help, cheque's in the post. :mischeif:

Sounds like good analysis there Greg - what piece of gear are you using to measure conductance ? That's a bit if kit I'd like to get my hands on. I have FIVE spare coil packs that I've never tested. They don't look pretty but I'd sure like to know if they are alive without having to test them on the car.

I was using a Fluke 89IV quite a nice little bit of kit since you can log data, measure pulse widths and duty cycles with it too.

Cheer for coil pack doug, look forward to receiving it.
